DIY Easter Centerpiece and other Easter Decor

Easter is so early this year that when I returned home from Florida, I barely had time to take my Valentine decor down and put any Easter decorations up.  But I did manage to do a little bit.

I wanted an Easter centerpiece for my dining room table but I didn't want to spend much money because we are going out of town for Easter so the only people that will see it will be my husband and I.

So I looked at what I already had around the house and discovered an old Easter basket and some artificial spring flowers.

I didn't have any Styrofoam to create a real arrangement, so I just stuffed the artificial flowers into the basket and bent the stems a bit.  Then I added some fake greenery here and there to fill in the holes.

Even though I didn't want to buy anything, I felt a basket on the table wasn't enough, and thought a little Easter Bunny would be a cute addition.  When I went to town on my weekly shopping day for groceries, I also then searched for a little Easter rabbit and went to a multitude of stores like Michaels, T.J. Maxx, etc.:   but all the bunnies I found were either hideously ugly or too cute.  I finally decided to check the Dollar General store and ended up finding this little guy hiding out in the garden center.  He's meant to be used in spring pots outside, but I thought he'd make the perfect addition to my Easter centerpiece too!  Isn't he so sweet?  And he only cost $1.00

I had some leftover speckled eggs, so I added one to the other side of my basket floral arrangement.

When shopping for herbs at the grocery store, I found this wheat grass.  I've seen wheat grass used in spring arrangements before and initially I was going to put it inside the spring basket, but the tall flowers seemed to drown it out.  It was so pretty that I wanted it seen, so I put it in one of my blue ceramic pots.

I love seeing and feeling fresh grass in my house.  It's amazing how much I miss grass during the long winter months.  I've always loved watching the grass green up in the spring, and I can't wait till the first warm day when I can run barefoot in the grass.

On top of the piano (which is right next to the dining room table), I placed an Easter Egg holder and a new Easter plate I found at T.J. Maxx for only $3.99.  I'm always on the lookout for new seasonal plates to decorate my dining room with.

I absolutely love the blue gingham border on this plate and the realistic bunny portrait.

My other Easter decorations I have had for several years now.  I always hang this Easter Egg wreath on my side entry way door.

And I place this country, Easter Bunny wall hanging on my side porch.

And finally, I only have two other spring plates that I bring out this time of the year, and add them to my dining room plate rail.

Another cute bunny plate.  This one is sitting amongst some flowers and has a cute open, scalloped edge.

And this pretty chickadee plate.  I love chickadees;  so does my husband.  They are one of our favorite birds.  We love how friendly they are.

Have a Great Day!  Amy
