Christmas Photo Cards Covers

If your a regular reader of mine you would know that I have played the Christmas Card Challenge on Splitcoaststampers for years  where we make Christmas cards all year long so that were not stressed out during the busy holiday season.  This past year I made sixty cards, and guess what?  Now I won't be able to use any of them!  You see, I made long cards to fit a long, narrow photo card inside.  But I accidentally ordered 5 x 7 photo cards this year, which will not fit inside the cards I had spent the entire year making.

Well, I already paid for the photo cards and didn't want to be out of the money I spent on them, so I had to use them.  I thought of just sending the photo cards without a Christmas card, like what most people do.  But I like to send a Christmas letter out with my cards each year, and I just didn't want to put it in an envelope with the photo card.  I wanted both the Christmas letter and the photo card to fit inside of something.

So with only thirteen days before Christmas, I have decided to stress myself out, and make sixty of these:

I picked a very simple design, so I could make them as quickly and easily as possible.  Just a sentiment, with two types of ribbon, and embossed paper.  When the card is opened, my photo card is tacked inside.

This is my photo card this year.  Since the card is from my husband and I, we are the largest photograph in the center, with our children on either side of us.

I chose the colors black, red, and white of my card to match the colors in the photo card.

At first, I tried using an old Justrite sentiment on the cards as shown in the first picture, but the stamp was so difficult to work with (it left so many ink spots because the rubber wasn't raised enough) that I switched to a Crafty Seasons sentiment from the "Season's Greetings" set.

My paper is pre-embossed designer paper so I didn't have to do that work.  It was basically just stamp, cut, and glue!

Because I'm using paper from a paper pad, all the designs and colors are different, but I tried to stick with shades or red and green.

I'm also using ribbon from my stash and when I run out of a certain black ribbon, I just pick a different one.  That is why there are many variations in these pictures.

For this card, I used glitter ribbon with green embossed paper and a red scalloped circle.

Then in this card, I switched the background color to red, the scalloped circle to green, and I added black and white reindeer ribbon.

So far I have thirty cards done....I'm half way there!  I hope to have the rest done by Thursday, and in the mail by Friday.   Wish me luck!

I find it so humorous that I worked so hard all year long on my Christmas cards so that I wouldn't be stressed out during the busy holiday season....and then I make a mistake, and here I am, stressed out.

Oh well, the good news is, I don't have to make any Christmas cards next year cause I can use the ones I made this past year.  I just have to remember to order the correct size photo cards!

Have a great day!  Amy
