A 4th of July Outfit

Since it's the 4th of July weekend and a lot of you will be spending time in the parks and beaches, I thought I'd show you an outfit that I wore to the beach when I was in Florida this past February.  It's kind of patriotic because it's blue and white;  just add some red sandals or switch the metallic bag out for a red one and it's perfect!

I've seen a lot of bloggers posting pretty 4th of July outfits the past few weeks, but our holiday weekend will be much more laid back and does not require skirts or dresses.  We will be heading up north to go tent camping for a week...so I can guarantee you I won't be wearing white!

This is a polka dot knit shirt that I received from Stitch Fix years ago.  You can see it in the original post HERE and also when I styled it with white pants HERE.  Yeah, I know, I'm so creative.  I'm sure all my fashion blogging buddies would style this shirt with a pretty floral skirt or some other pattern, but I'm not that comfortable mixing patterns.  In my neck of the woods, everyone would think I got dressed in the dark or something.

My white denim shorts are by a.n.a and were purchased several years ago at JCP.  Everything I'm wearing is old, and I make no apologies for it. :)  I was reading on Instagram where a young lady apologized for wearing the same dress twice.  I thought that was so silly.  I don't think any of our readers expect to see new clothing with every post.  The majority of my readers love to see how I re-wear and get multiple outfits out of my clothing.  As long as I link up to the previous post or posts where I wore the item before, everything is fine!

Looking at these pictures, I really wish I had a red bag.  Would you believe that's the one color of bag I do not have?  I have a coral bag and a burnt orange bag, but I do not own a red bag.  My silver metallic cross body bag is very versatile though and goes with most of my outfits.  I rely on it heavily when I travel.  Metallic in general goes with anything...when in doubt about what color of bag to carry...choose metallic!

Because it was a casual day at the beach the only jewelry I wore was a simple gold and single pearl necklace.  And if your wondering why I don't have a swimming suit on, it's because it was February and the water was too cold.  Plus, we were not in the area to swim.  These pictures were taken at Cape Canaveral National Seashore.  There's a lot to do there other than the beach.  We hiked a bit, took a scenic drive, saw the manatees, plus checked out the small town nearby.  So I needed to be dressed to do those activities as well.

Have a Happy 4th of July!  Amy

  1. Great outfit for July 4th, but you do need a red purse to complete it for the red white and blue!

  4. I love this polka dot shirt, and it's perfect with the white shorts! A red bag would look great, but I also love the silver. Have a wonderful 4th of July!

  5. Very cute casual look! Sometimes simple is better. I don't think we need to have the perfectly mixed and matched outfit every time we get dressed just because we are fashion bloggers. That would be exhausting. Plus I like my clothes and want to wear them more that once. I usually restyle everything and never wear the exact same outfit twice, but I definitely wear the same pieces over and over again!

Have a fabulous weekend. Thanks for linking up On the Edge of the Week. I hope to see you again next Friday!

  6. I will not be wearing white either for the Fourth of July either! I am going to a birthday dinner and I don't want to get food on a white look. So I am sticking to blue and white stripe dress. I hope you have a safe and nice July 4th. Cute look by the way!
