Fashion Over Fifty: Pretty Tank, Distressed Denim, and NEW SHOES!

Happy Labor Day everyone!   I hope everyone had a great three day weekend!  When this post goes live,  I will probably be starting to pack up and head home from a romantic get-a-away with my husband.  We decided to try camping, in a tent, all by ourselves!  He even surprised me and bought a sleeping bag that sleeps two!  We've been tent camping before, but never alone, and never for three full nights.  I will let you know how it went on Wednesday's Travel Post.

In the mean time, this post was written and scheduled to post before I left.  My yard is full of Golden Rod right now and I thought it would make a great scenic backdrop for some fashion photos.  I will miss not having a yard of color to take my picture in once the flowers have faded.  It makes taking nice photos so much easier!

Everything in today's outfit is old except the shoes.  I got new shoes!  Yeah!  I love new shoes!  Especially when I get a great deal on them;  but more on that later.  For now, let's focus on the top and jeans.

I bought the top last year from J.C. Penney and showed it you HERE with white capris.  This time, I paired the top with distressed boyfriend jeans from Stitch Fix.  Remember when I stated in that post that I didn't want to buy distressed denim anymore because the little holes grow into big holes way too fast?  Well, I've worn these jeans quite a few times this summer, but I have been very careful with them (rarely washing them and not wearing them just around the house) and the knee hole only got a little bit bigger.  I guess that's the trick to distressed denim:  treat it like a very fragile item! :)

Even though rips and tears all over jeans are extremely popular, for me, I just like a small amount of distressing so I want to keep the hole as small as possible for as long as possible.

My new shoes I got at J.C.P for only a few dollars because I bought them on clearance for $12.69 and then I had a $10.00 off coupon!

The heels are very tall, but they are wedges so I can walk in comfort with them.  I only fell off my shoe once, and it was at home, so no one saw me.  LOL!  My husband however did and was worried I sprained my ankle, since it's quite a fall from that height!  But I was fine.

I was taller than my husband when I wore these shoes, but he didn't mind.  He really liked them (other than the safety issue :) ).  A lady at our church joked "You grew since I last saw you".  I just laughed and showed her the height of my heel.  I sure felt tall and skinny when I had them on.  And I loved how they instantly dressed up a casual outfit.

I carried an old metallic cross body bag I picked up on vacation a couple of years ago.  For jewelry I wore a simple multi-strand silver bracelet.  I didn't wear a necklace because I thought there was already a lot going on with the top.  I could have worn earrings, but when you have hair that always covers your ear lobes, it never makes much sense to bother with earrings.

Have a great day!  Amy
