What I Wore to Champaign

If your a regular reader of my blog you would already know that I spent some time in Champaign, Illinois a couple of weeks ago to attend a concert of my daughter's.  I've already shared one outfit from that visit HERE,  and I talked about my weekend in these posts HERE and HERE.  Today's post is another casual outfit I wore that weekend.

As I stated in my first fashion post from that weekend, I was eight hours south from home so the temperatures were much warmer.  It was in the upper seventies on most days, but because it was October I wanted to wear fall clothing not summer clothing.  I solved my dilemma by selecting clothes with traditional fall colors or short sleeves.

The outfit I'm wearing below was suitable for the warmer temperatures.  I chose a lightweight top in an olive green color and coordinated it with brown tones in my bag and purse:  perfect fall hues!

My brown tote (old) and shoes are from J.C. Penney.  I love this tote for it's the perfect size and style for my lifestyle, but it's beginning to show some wear and needs to be replaced.  The shoes are new this season.  I've shown them to you before in THIS POST.  If your interested in them, the link to the store is in that post as well.

For jewelry, I only wore a bracelet because I thought my top was bejeweled enough!  I picked up the bracelet at a gift shop on one of our vacations.

I chose the wedge booties because I figured I'd be walking on campus a bit.  They are much more comfortable to walk in than most heeled boots, however, I wouldn't recommend wearing them for walking long distances in.  They aren't that comfortable!

My daughter bought me this Michael Kors shirt as a Christmas gift.  I've shown it to you before in THIS POST.  There I glammed it up more with lots of big, bold jewelry, black pants, and snakeskin print flats.  But today I dressed it down with Kut from the Kloth distressed boyfriend jeans from Stitch Fix.

Michael Kors always puts a lot of beautiful details in his shirts like the gold studs on the shoulder caps and the gold cord pulls on the ties.

The majority of this day was spent sitting in a coffee shop waiting for Ashley to finish a rehearsal or sitting in our guest home while Ashley got some much needed rest before the concert.  So that is why I picked such a casual outfit to wear;   no need to get too dressed up to sit!  But who says you still can't look good while waiting?

The weekend was so stressful and busy that I just realized I never had a picture taken of me and my daughter together after the concert;  so I don't have a picture of what I wore to her event.  BUT,  it was an outfit I wore years ago so I do have an old blog post you can look at HERE.  I wore the exact same outfit except with a different necklace and nude pantyhose instead of black tights.  Don't laugh at my bad photography.  I was just starting to branch out into fashion blogging then so my photographs were not the best.  The irony is that as much as these pictures embarrass me now, they are still one of my most popular pins.  This outfit has been pinned from my site 73 times, and re-pinned more times than I can count.  I don't know why, but women love this outfit and are able to look past the bad pictures!

Have a great day!  Amy
