Today I have my very first Beauty Post to share with you! Several years ago I took this blog from purely a creative arts blog and started to incorporate fashion posts as well. Well those posts turned out to be wildly popular, and I have been getting requests to do make-up tutorials, fitness tips, and other beauty subjects too. So when Irresistible Me asked me to review one of their hair products I thought it would be a good introduction to this new endeavor.
But, I must admit, I was a little apprehensive. Although I use to work as a make-up artist, hair has never really been my thing. I'm a wash-and-go type of gal. I never really liked to take the time to fuss with my hair, and frankly, I've never been very good at styling my own hair. I told the Irresistible Me company that although I spend a lot of money on my hair, having it professionally colored, high-lighted, and cut every six weeks, I don't do anything with it other than blow-dry it on my own!
I finally came to the conclusion, that it was for all these reasons (or excuses?) that I was a great candidate to review one of their products. I represent the average woman, with little time, and very little ability to style her own hair. Who better than me to see if a product was easy to use?
I chose to try their Sapphire 8 in 1 Complete Curling Wand because I liked all the idea of having options of creating many different curls with all the wands.
The Irresistible Me Sapphire 8 in 1 Complete Curler Wand arrived in a beautiful box with a flip lid. Inside the lid was a description of all the wands and some of the highlights of it's special features.
My absolutely favorite part of this curling system was that it came with a case that holds the iron, all eight wands, and the gloves. I travel a lot, so this was a huge plus for me! I could very easily take the entire system with me on any of my vacations. All the parts easily folded up into one very small case.
This is everything that is included in the set: a heat resistant glove, a stand, the iron, the case, and eight wands of different sizes and shapes. Each wand produces a different type of curl. You simply pick which wand you want to use, insert it into the heating unit, and in less than a minute your ready to start curling your hair!
I chose this funny looking wand, because I wanted beachy, care-free waves!
Here are a couple of photos of me with my hair freshly washed and blown dry, so you can get an idea of what my hair typically looks like.
I put on the heat resistant glove, and using a clip, put most of my hair up so it wouldn't get in the way as I started to curl. I curled the hair underneath first. I used a heat protective spray before I wrapped my hair around the wand to protect it from heat damage, and also to help hold the curl longer.
Now this was my very first experience using a curling wand and not an iron. I must admit, I had to get use to not having a clamp to hold the hair in place. But after a few curls, I got the hang of it. Because there is not a clamp, you have to hold the hair in place with your gloved hand. You only need to hold it about three to five sections, and you have a perfect curl!
I kept moving my clips around as I worked the wand around my head. Sometimes I would clip up the curled portions, like in the photo below, so I could work on the straight portions more easily.
I alternated between holding my wand down to curl portions of my hair and also holding it up to give my hair more volume.
When I finished curling my entire head this is what it looked like before I finger-combed it.
Because I wanted a natural, tousled, beach wave look, I didn't want to brush my hair. I just ran my fingers through it to smooth it out and when I got the look I was going for, I sprayed it with a finishing hairspray.
I absolutely love how natural the curls looked. The waves gave my hair a lot more volume. Of course the real test came when my husband saw my curly waves. The result? He loved it!
Here is a front view of my curly waves. Quite a difference from my usual look! Because I was taking these picture in my bathroom, the quality of the photos is not the best. In tomorrow's fashion post, I will have more and better pictures of my new look to share with you!
Here are all the hair products I used to style my hair. I started with some mousse from Loreal that is especially made to help curl your hair. I put this in when my hair was still wet, before I blow dried my hair. The Brazilian Keratin Therapy spray I used before making each curl. I finished the style off with some Amplify Volume hairspray from Matrix.
I plan to do more posts in the future showing other hairstyles I created using different wands. I also intend on using my daughter as a model in one of my future posts. She has very long, straight hair, and I can't wait to see what this wand will do for her.
There are many videos on the Irresistible Me You-Tube Channel and on the Irresistible Me website to watch showing how to use this unique hair curling system. THIS VIDEO is one of the best one's I've watched for she shows all the different curl types the wand makes and she gives detailed instructions on how to attach the wand to the heating unit.
Irresistible Me is also on Facebook , Instagram , Pinterest , Twitter, and Google+ .
The entire cost of the set is $199.00, which is a steal when you consider if you had to buy each wand separately at a minimum of $25.00 a wand! You can find the wand HERE if your interested in purchasing one.
I hope you enjoyed my very first Beauty Post. If there are any topics or hairstyles you'd like me to cover in future posts, I'd love to hear your suggestions!
Have a great day! I look forward to showing you my curly hair on Friday's Fashion Post! Amy
