Pink or Blue

Hello!  This week Vicki at Stamp Smiles challenged us to use the colors pink or blue and/or make a baby card for the Flashback Friday Challenge.  I already have a couple of baby cards in my stash that are several years old (I just don't know that many people who have babies anymore), so I didn't want to make another baby card.  I did however need a birthday card for my card ministry, so I chose to submit this card for the challenge.

I've been seeing a lot of gorgeous water-colored cards on the web lately.  It seems water coloring is really trending after years of trying to perfectly color an image like an artist.  I wonder if people are tiring of the labour and perfection of coloring, and want something a little more freeing.  In any case, I put down my Copic Markers for the day, and played with water color markers.  I've never been very good at water coloring.  I even took several classes and it still didn't help.  As much as I love the look, I just don't have the knack for it.  But here is my creation.  I'll keep practicing, I promise.

The large flower image is retired Stampin Up!  'From the Garden'.  The sentiment is from Inkadinkado.   I used Stampin Up! water color markers directly on the stamp, misted it, then I just stamped onto watercolor paper and waited to see what happened next.  That was it!  Easy-peasy.  No wonder water color is trending!  All I had to do to finish the card was attach the base to a Brocade Blue folded card stock.

So what about you?  Do you like to water color, or do you still prefer to color with Copic Markers?  I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great day!  Amy

  3. Amy, this is beautiful! I absolutely love the watercolor look! Fabulous job!!! I haven't jump on the watercolor bandwagon yet, but would love to try it! Someday... someday, I will invest in some watercolored papers and brushes or like you, invest in some watercolor markers. But, until that day, I will just sit and admired all the beautiful watercolored creations that I come across. :)

  5. It looks beautiful! I haven't tried stamping in watercolor, but I do love doing watercolor wash backgrounds (but I am not very good at it and need to do it more often :-)
