Cased Tropical Birds Cards

MFT recently came out with a new set that looks very similar to the retired Stampin' Up! set "Just Beakause" that I already own.  I love it when a stamp company creates a set that is similar to one I already have, because then I get new design ideas of how to use my old set, without having to buy anything!

I have been loving all the cards the designer's have come up with, and here are just three I have cased so far.

For my first card, HERE is the original card that I cased.  In that card, the designer used a stamp to create her background, whereas I just used designer paper.  Anything to keep it easier on myself! I did sponge the edges of my designer paper with white craft ink to soften it.

The designer paper is "Lime Twist" by My Mind's Eye.  I stamped the branch onto white card stock, and cut it out, then adhered it to another piece of white card stock, and cut that out.  I popped the whole thing up on dimensionals.  The birds and leaves were then stamped and fussy cut out, and applied over that.  The birds are also popped up on dimensionals.  The sentiment was stamped directly onto the white card stock.

For my second card, I cased THIS CARD.   The designer of this card used a stencil and embossing paste to create her background.  I just kept it simple again and used an embossing folder.  After it was embossed, I cut the circle with a Spellbinder's Nestability and then popped it up on dimensionals over a white card base.

Everything else is very similar to the original card, except I used different stamps and papers because I used what was in my stash.  I really loved how she did the sentiment:  stamping onto black card stock with white ink.  I thought that was very creative and I loved the way it looked.  I didn't have the die to create the sentiment shape, but I did have a stencil!  I just drew around the stencil with a white gel pen and fussy cut it out.

My final card was inspired by THIS CARD.   I loved the layout of this card, but I didn't have the  flower stamps, so I used MFT dies instead.  I also added an extra bird.

I picked a colorful, tropical paper from DCWV "A Pocketful of Posies" for my background paper.  Again, the white panel is popped up on dimensionals.

I love this set, but it is up for sale along with many other retired Stampin' Up! sets in my Etsy store.

Have a great day!  Amy
