My Mother's Day Outfit

Happy Belated Mother's Day!  I didn't do a pre-Mother's Day post this year but I want to show you what I wore for Mother's Day.  My husband and I just saw our kids three times in the past month (they live out of state) and we will see them again on Memorial Day weekend, so we did not get together with them for Mother's Day.  They both called and sent cards and gifts, so I was still very appreciated and loved.  Since we were alone on the holiday, we decided to do something together.  We went to church, then to the garden center to buy annuals, had lunch, and saw a movie.  On our way home we stopped and took these pictures.

The shirt I'm wearing in today's post I bought to wear for Easter then never ended up wearing it.  You can still see how I styled it for Easter HERE.   I also took a reader's suggestion and dressed it down with jeans to go shopping.  So even though I bought the top for Easter, I have worn it twice now!

This time, I decided to wear my new top for Mother's Day.   It was a beautiful 80 degree day on Mother's Day, so instead of pants,  I styled it with a black skirt.

I bought this skirt years ago from Target and it is my absolutely favorite skirt.  It's has an elastic waist, pockets, and a light gauze material so it couldn't be more comfortable.  It's also a perfect length for me.

The top I picked up at T.J. Maxx this spring.  Even though it has 3/4 length sleeves, it's a loose, slightly sheer top so I should be able to wear it all summer.

My bracelet is from Charming Charlie and the bag is from JCP (old).

I wore a black and silver necklace also from Charming Charlie's (old).

My shoes are by 9 West (old)

It's so nice to have warm weather again and go bare-legged.  I bought some coconut oil from Bath and Body Works and oh, is it nice!  I wasn't sure about putting oil on my legs, I thought it would leave a greasy residue, but it doesn't.  It not only moisturizes well, but it provides such a nice sheen to your legs it practically looks like you have pantyhose on.  I'll have to do a beauty post on it soon.  I also have some new lip stain I wanted to share as well.

Have a Great Day!  Amy

  1. Amy, belated happy mother's day to you!
Styling the pretty blouse with a skirt seems perfect for your special day. And the nude shoes are spot-on, your legs seem to go on forever! The outfit showcases your neat body and lovely legs, so a great combo for you. So pretty !

  2. Pretty, pretty. Love the peachy-blush in your shirt. And that skirt is such an ideal length. Anything below my knee and I feel frumpy but worry about wearing things too short. Wore my workout clothes and bathing suit all day yesterday. Ha!

    1. Thanks Leslie, I so agree about feeling frumpy in longer skirt lengths, but I don't like wearing them too short either.

    1. Thanks Lauren, the print is what sold me on this top. It's a very subtle floral.

    1. Yes, I love warm weather. It makes me so happy. I'm glad someone appreciates my thrifty fashion blog. There are way too many bloggers out there who spend way too much money on clothes. We need more alternatives.

    1. Thank you! The handbag is so old I worry it might be dated and I have thought numerous times of donating it. But I still hang onto it because every now and then it makes the perfect accessory.

  9. Look like you enjoyed Mother's Day and got pampered by your kids. I love almost all nude/all white or pale painted-on florals like that. Such a pretty blouse and sandals too. In my next post I will be sharing similar nude sandals I am loving currently.
