A Happy Fathers Day

Hello!  I hope everyone had an awesome Father's Day!  I know we did, although now I'm so exhausted I feel I could sleep for a week!  Ours was more of a Father's Day weekend than a single day.  All the kids were home visiting for the week, so we had a lot of great meals and fun 'hanging out' at home before dad was available after a sixty hour work week to spend some quality time with us.

The party actually started on Friday when we met him at his place of employment and enjoyed a picnic lunch outside.  Then Ashley and I went shopping and I found four pairs of new shoes that I can't wait to show you!  I only spent $35.00 for one designer pair of shoes, and all the rest were under $10.00 because I used coupons and I bought them on clearance!

After shopping all day, we came home and had steak, potatoes, corn on the cob, and veggie kabobs on the grill, then we sat around a campfire and talked into the night as the mosquitoes ate my feet.  I was covered completely, but I had sandals on, so they got my feet.  I kept my feet as close to the fire as possible, and they still got me!

On Saturday we took our 'June Adventure' and went hiking in Perrot State Park then had dinner outside at a river view restaurant.  I don't want to say more about that now, because I'd like to save that for a post later this week.

Then on Sunday, the real fun began because that was Fathers Day!  After our church service, we went and had a quick lunch at Culver's where dad got a FREE turtle sundae for fathering his children, then we saw the movie 'Jurassic World'.  It was such a fun movie.  Not as good as 'Jurassic Park', but a good family movie nevertheless.  We all really liked the ending.

After the movie, we went back to Culver's so I could have some ice cream (because I only had a Strawberry Fields salad at lunch, so I was starving after the movie).  We then took a few pictures outside the restaurant.  If I have any Eau Claire readers, you might recognize the location.  Afterwards we came home and opened presents.  This was the card I made for my husband:
My husband and I have had a long-standing joke through-out our marriage that starts with the statement 'I can take a piece of wood'.  You see, my husband can make anything out of wood, and whenever I wanted to buy something new for the house, he would say 'I can take a piece of wood…' because he wanted to save money and not buy it.  Then I would get all mad at him because I didn't want something handmade…I wanted something new.  Of course, those years are all over, and now we can look back and laugh at it.  So when I made him this wood-themed card I wrote inside 'I was going to take a piece of wood, but I bought you this shirt instead',  because I gave him a polo shirt for Father's Day.
To make my card, I used a retired Stampin Up! image called 'For Father'.  The sentiment is from Studio G.  The wood paper is from Bo Bunny's 'Camp-a-lot Collection'.  I used dimensionals to pop the wood paper up from the Early Expresso card base.  I was inspired by this sketch HERE.

Now onto the most important part:  What did I WEAR for Father's Day?  :)

Since my husband was the star of the day, I wore something that I knew would please him since he bought it for me.  It apparently worked, because he couldn't take his eyes off me all day (isn't it wonderful when after twenty eight years of marriage, your man still feels that way about you?).  He loves me in black, and the see-thru lace is so romantic.
When we were vacationing in Colorado, we kept seeing little shops with Nepalese clothing everywhere we went.  Apparently a lot of Nepalese Americans settled in the Denver area after the Nepalese Civil War.  I fell in love with the colors and textures of their clothing,  and I wanted a piece as a souvenir of our trip, so my husband bought me this black dress.  Of course, it's too short for me to wear it as a dress, so I wore it as a tunic over my Emer High Waisted Trousers from Stitch Fix.
It's a completely see-thru crocheted design of tulips and scallops.  I plan to use it as a cover up when we visit Florida as well.  I bought a black knit body hugging dress to wear under it too, but in the photos below I only have a black camisole on.

For jewelry, I kept it simple and just accented the intricate top with the gold pendant necklace I received in my last Stitch Fix, and a large, sparkly gold bracelet (old).  I brought in a pop of color with my green Liz Claiborne bag from JCP.

I just love all the texture and designs in this top!  Can you see the butterflies in the second to last row?  And don't you just love how the edge is finished?
I couldn't forget to take a picture of the back of this dress!
I wore black satin wedges from JCP (old) for my shoes.

We had so much fun this past weekend, and I think the smile on my face really shows it.  The weather was absolute perfection!  We made so many wonderful memories….exactly what holidays are for!

Have a great day!  Amy
