Fashion Over Fifty: Holiday Fun

Hello!  My daughter was visiting for the Thanksgiving Holiday and we spent a day playing dress up and taking pictures.  It was so much fun.  Ashley had a lot of creative ideas for places to shoot in my house so that we wouldn't have to go outside in the cold.  She also gave me some new tips for posing so that I don't keep positioning myself the same way in every photograph.

Ashley brought some clothes with her, and I was able to mix them with some of my existing pieces, so that I would have some 'new' or shall I say 're-cycled' outfits to show you.  Ashley is an excellent thrift store shopper, which I greatly admire, because I don't have the patience for that.  I'm more of a Macy's gal….run in, see something I like, and buy it.  But she does find a lot of unique, fun pieces in her thrift store shopping, like the skirt I'm wearing below.

I LOVE this skirt!  The circle print is so fun.  I'm going to have to email her and tell her to bring it home for Christmas break so that I can actually wear it for something other than a photo shoot.  It is a short skirt, but if you wear it with black tights or leggings, it is more modest.

I paired the skirt with an existing red sweater that I bought last year from J.C. Penney.
The zebra cuff is the only 'new' item in my outfit.  I bought it from Express.
For shoes I wore little black suede booties from Famous Footwear.
One of the unique details of this sweater is the exposed zipper.  Putting zippers on the outside of apparel started to appear last season, but it is really in style now.
The doorway that I'm standing in, is actually a pocket door that separates our original house from the addition.  Pretty clever of Ashley to close the door and use it as a backdrop for pictures, eh?  I loved that the entrance gave me something to lean on, or something to do with my hands.  That's always the hardest to figure out what to do with in photographs…your hands.
My necklace is old.  I think I bought it from Express years ago.  It's a long silver chain with charms and a feather hanging it.
I think the next time Ashley comes home to visit, we'll have to do some mother/daughter shots and have one of the 'boys' take out pictures….oh, I'm sure they'll be thrilled about that!  But it would be a lot of fun, wouldn't it?

Have a great day!  Amy
