Cozy October with Ageless Style

Ageless Style is a monthly style challenge and link up for women of all ages.   Each month we pick a different theme and style an outfit based on that theme.  This month's theme is "Cozy October" and was picked by Jennifer.

We decided to initiate our newest Ageless Style member, Jennifer, by having her pick this month's theme.  Jennifer chose "Cozy October" which is great because it is the perfect theme for fall and it also leaves a lot open for interpretation.  I had actually never even heard of the phrase "Cozy October" before Jennifer mentioned it, and now of course, I'm seeing it everywhere.  Isn't that crazy when that happens?  I even saw a sweatshirt that said "Cozy October" but of course they didn't have my size (the story of my life).  I actually don't even know why someone created the phrase "Cozy October" because the weather really isn't consistently "cozy' in October, even in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin where I live.  Most days we are still in the 60's and 70's and early October this year was down right hot!  I think November is more of a "cozy" month.  Anyhow, here is how I interpreted the challenge:

Since most days in my neck of the woods are cold in the mornings and evenings, but hot in the afternoons, I layer, layer, layer....removing and/or adding clothing as the temperatures drastically change.  Here is an outfit I recently wore on a fall trip to the sweet little town of Galena Illinois where the day time temperature was 78 degrees but it was only in the mid 40's in the morning,  This is the outfit for the day time high.

And here is the outfit I wore that same day, early in the morning when the temperatures were in the middle 40's.  I added a thick cropped neutral sweater and a leopard print scarf.  I love scarves for these kind of days.  If you notice in the photo above my neck and chest are quite exposed;  adding a scarf brings instant warmth to those areas.  I actually use scarves more in the spring and fall than I do in the winter.  In the winter my coat goes up to my chin, making a scarf unnecessary.  But in the spring and fall my coats/sweaters never go that high up making a scarf very necessary to stay warm.

I chose a leopard print scarf because leopard is really trending this season, plus the colors blend in well with the rest of the outfit.

I could have tucked my shirt in to look more polished, but I was afraid of it getting wrinkled knowing I'd be removing the sweater later in the day, I also think it helps break up the long line of beige.

Because I was outside in the sun walking all day I wore a felt brown hat.  Boy, did I get a lot of compliments on this hat.  Many women are afraid to wear hats, but they really do complete the outfit.

I carried a brown crossbody bag for security reasons and because it went with my outfit 😁

I normally would style this outfit with a cute pair of brown booties, but because I was walking all day, I chose a comfy pair of neutral flats.

If you recognize the top, that's because it was from my latest Stitch Fix box.  I'm so glad I kept this top.  It's so versatile!  The pants are new from a local boutique in my hometown and they are already sold out.  They are so trending this year!  I love the shorter length too so you can show off your cute shoes 😀.  They are by Kut from the Kloth which has many similar options.  Everything else I'm styling is old.

And now be sure to check out what the rest of the ladies in the group are wearing and link up with as well.  Next month's theme is "Chocolate Brown and/or Cream" and was chosen by ME!  If you want to join us, just email me before November 20th,  (email address located on my "contacts/follow" page in the side bar) and I'll include you in next month's post.

Have A Great Day!  Amy

  4. I love the hat! You wear it well. I always want one but it's so windy here that it's hard to keep it on my head. Lol. Great leopard scarf.

  6. What a fun way to kick off "Cozy October"! I love how you’ve embraced the theme with your layered outfits—it's perfect for those unpredictable fall temperatures. Your trip to Galena sounds delightful, and I can totally relate to the struggle of dressing for fluctuating weather. The way you styled your outfits to transition from morning chill to afternoon warmth is spot on.

The leopard print scarf is a great choice, especially since it’s so on-trend right now. Scarves really are the perfect accessory for adding warmth and style during this time of year! And that felt brown hat must have been a stylish touch—it's amazing how hats can elevate an outfit and provide a bit of flair. Thanks for sharing your cozy interpretations; they’re inspiring for anyone looking to stay stylish and comfortable this fall!

  8. Good grief, woman, you look so polished. I like the bit of shirt tail peeking out from the sweater. It does break up the column of beige and add some color. Great idea to add the leopard scarf. I think I have a very similar one that I might need to hunt up for next month's challenge. Love the pants, LOVE LOVE LOVE the hat. Need to wear my hats more often. You have such confidence and I feel like such a slug!! Hoping by next month this stupid boot will be off and I can wear matching shoes again.

    1. Thank you, and how funny because I thought with all the layers and the untucked shirt I looked sloppy. I like the outfit a lot without the sweater and scarf. I think I'm getting more confident about clothes now that I'm old.
