On the second Monday of every month a group of style bloggers and I pick a theme, style an outfit based on that theme, and then do a link up together where you can join too! This month's theme is "Spring Trends".
This month Nina challenged us to choose from five spring trends this season: 1. Pleats, 2. Bright Colors, 3. Halter Neckline, 4. Statement Suits, 5. Cut Outs (and a couple of ladies picked their own spring trend). I really wanted to show a halter dress, but we are experiencing cold temperatures in Wisconsin so I chose "Bright Colors".
The Pantone Color of the year is "Periwinkle" but as usual with their color picks I'm not seeing it in the stores or on people. I always feel whatever color Pantone picks, I never see it trending till 1-3 years later. It must have something to do with manufacturing I'm sure. But the color I am seeing everywhere is yellow! People seem to love this happy, bright color!
I found this cute and comfy sweatshirt on clearance for $7.00 at Walmart. I thought it would be perfect for these cool spring temperatures we've been experiencing in Wisconsin.
I styled my spring sweatshirt with black embroidered jeans. The floral embroidery on the jeans is also perfect for welcoming spring
I love to wear casual, comfy clothes yet add some accessories to elevate the look so it doesn't look like I'm just chilling at home. One way I do this is by wearing jewelry. For this look I wore a gold bracelet, a colorful beaded necklace, and a pair of drop earrings.
Footwear can also change a look from casual to dressy. If I would have worn sneakers with this outfit, it would have been a lot more casual. Instead, I wore pointy toe burgundy flats. The flats are still comfy, but dressy at the same time.
And now lets see what the rest of the ladies in the group are wearing and be sure to link up your outfits with us below too!
Shelbee
Shelbee - Shelbee on the Edge - Bra tops and bell bottoms are two trends together that appeal to my hippie soul. I found these amazing embroidered bell bottoms and the coordinating fringe cardigan at Indigo Sun, a funky little bohemian boutique we visited in Asheville on my recent road trip adventure. And now I am officially ready for festival season!
Suzanne
Suzanne - Ask Suzanne Bell - Secured at the back of the neck, a halter style dress or top highlights your shoulders and is an incredibly flattering silhouette, yet many of us shy away from this style due to not knowing what type of bra or support works with this style dress/top. Fortunately, the halter is my all-time favorite silhouette, and I’ve got you covered underneath with styling solutions + bras and bralettes, on the blog…
Lucy
Lucy - Lucy Bertoldi.com Bright colours make my heart sing and I’m in complete dopamine styling mode when I see the Spring sunshine. Is it just me or are other Northern girls itching to pull out the sandals (even if only for a photo moment)?
Nicole
Nicole - High Latitude Style - The trend to invest in this year is fringes if your personal style is Bohemian or Rock’n Roll. This is due to fringes being a perennial trend. Even if your personal style is not one of the two, a fringe clutch may be worth it when your most frequent travel destination is a beach resort. It’s perfect with a beach dress or resort style.
Julie
Julie - Fashion Trends and Friends and Instagram FashionTandF - The current spring 2022 trends include: pleats, bright colors, halter neckline, statement suits or cutouts. Additionally, feathers and wearing bras as a top are trending! You know my mantra: Wear what you love or what speaks to you and you'll always look great! Can you guess which of these appeal to me the most? Hop over to my blog to see if you guessed correctly!
Nancy - Nancy’s Fashion Style - It has to be tiered dresses. I already bought last year several and I am still very much in love with this design. In fact I already ordered a few more! These two are my favourites from last year. I actually like it better to wear them without a belt, but these two are very bulky. They would have been perfect if there were pockets in it. I will show my latests tiered dresses soon on the blog!
And Me!
Amy - Amy’s Creative Pursuits - As a Wisconsin Gal, every spring we have to deal with frigid temperatures, leaving me in quite the conundrum as I want to wear spring clothes but I can’t. How do I solve the problem? By wearing bright colors in warm winter fabrics.
Have a Great Day! Amy

I like to wear halter styles too but it has to warm up a lot more before I'll be showing off my shoulders! LOL. That is such a pretty outfit and I love those embroidered jeans.
ReplyDeleteYes, halter styles are so flattering, but too cold for them here right now. Thanks so much!
DeleteAmy, this is such a darling little outfit for the cold spring weather! The yellow looks great on you and I absolutely love your embroidered jeans! The dark red flats add such a nice extra bit of color, too. Happy spring! May the weather warm up for us both soon!

DeleteHi Amy!
ReplyDeleteLiving in Illinois I totally understand the spring styling difficulties because our weather typically isn't warm enough but bright colors are always a good choice plus they just make you feel happy! I love the embroidery detail on your jeans! Another fun monthly collaboration! Julie xo
I am so happy I have blogging friends who can relate. Thanks so much!
DeleteI love how you incorporated yellow into the look Amy. That's how I always was when we lived in Denver...it was cold when everyone was talking about spring.
ReplyDeleteThe red shoes are fabulous with the look!!

Thanks Jodie. Yup. That is just the way it is. But we get them back in fall ha ha! We can wear cute fall clothes and they are still stuck in 80 degrees.
DeleteI'm loving yellow more and more. It is really a very happy colour!
ReplyDeleteYes! Me too!
DeleteBrilliant Photo Here My Friend - Well Done
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you!
DeleteYellow is such a happy color and you wear it so well! I think it was last year's pantone color so maybe that's why we're seeing so many clothes with it this year. I too have not seen periwinkle clothes in stores yet but have a couple pieces from a few years ago (a knit sweater and a fleece zip-up) and I do love that color too.
ReplyDeleteWe're having a couple of nice days at the moment but supposed to be cold again by the Easter weekend!
Happy Easter!
Thank you. I don't remember yellow being Pantone's color of the year last year...maybe they need to change their title from "color of the year" to "color of next year" ha ha.
DeleteAmy it's lovely to see pretty yellow on you and the others - I linked up the same dress worn two different ways [bold colours] but alas, the weather in the UK hasn't really been warm enough to do full-on Spring yet!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting, Catherine x
Thanks so much Catherine. I'll be over to check it out soon. Yes, it seems like a lot of us are struggling with no spring weather. It's in the 30s and snowing as I type this. UGH!
DeleteYour $7 sweatshirt was a great deal! It looks really nice on you. The colors in all of these outfits are so appealing and cheerful for spring. Thanks for hosting the link-up.

thank you. I rarely shop Walmart clothes but was inspired by my daughter because she told me she's been getting lots of deals there lately. And wa-la! I found this. It's been great to wear this spring as it has been unseasonably cold.
DeleteYour solution of bright colours in warm clothes is perfect, as here in the UK it can also be a bit cold in spring! Love your yellow, and am also keen to find Very Peri! Thanks for linking.
ReplyDeletethank you! Yes, that is the only way I can enjoy spring fashion...through color!
DeleteA really fabulous look, Amy! (Wasn’t yellow last year’s Pantone color of the year? LOL) Yellow is such a good color on you. And I love the bright yellow with your black embroidered jeans.
