Cobalt Blue Dress with Black Moto Jacket

Our weather in Wisconsin this time of year is always so unpredictable.  In addition to fluctuating temperatures during the day, we also have to deal with extreme temperature differences from one day to the next.  One day the high will be 74 degrees, and the next the high could only be in the 50's.  I deal with these extreme temperature changes by wearing fall clothes/colors, yet still stay comfortable depending on the weather.

For today's outfit, I was meeting my husband for lunch then doing my weekly shopping.  If I sound like I say that a lot in my fashion posts it's because I do have a lunch date with my husband every week.  We live 45 minutes from the nearest large town, so I only go into town once a week to run my errands to save gas and time.  While there, I always meet my husband for lunch.  The rest of the week I am at home usually in grubby clothes for I'm working in my garden.  The only other time I dress up is on the weekend if my husband and I go out and I also dress up for vacations.

On this day, the afternoon high was the mid seventies, but it was only in the fifties when I left, so I started my day wearing my black moto jacket (old, Forever 21).

The dress is pretty short, but at my age I don't care what people think anymore so I wear it anyway.  And it was nice to have my legs bare on such a warm day.

Because of the mock turtleneck, the dress is meant for the colder seasons; but because it has short sleeves, I can wear it when the weather is slightly warmer as well. I've shown it styled before HERE and HERE for both a night time summer look and also a winter look.

Here's what the dress looks like without the coat.  Like I said earlier, it has short sleeves which might be too cold in the winter months without a jacket or cardigan;  but the short sleeves are perfect for transitional seasons like fall.

I chose to wear black suede ankle boots to keep the head-to-toe fall look going (old, Famous Footwear).

For jewelry I chose silver and black, both old pieces.

So the only thing new in this look is my brand new bag from J.C. Penney.  I'm afraid you will be seeing this bag a lot this fall/winter.  I just love the color, and it seems to go perfectly with all my fall outfits.

  9. My first thought wasn't that your hemline was high, Amy, but rather, day'yum, she looks good in that outfit :) and hurray for dates with the husband. We try to do that every now and again as well. My cheeks still flush and my heart still races at the thought of seeing him for a date :) xoxo

  14. Perhaps you should find a group of ladies to lunch with so you can add in a few more opportunities to dress up. I can't help myself I suggest this to all my women friends and host them. With legs like yours, I would rock that dress too , but alas I need a little more coverage. DH is lucky to have a wife who dresses so nicely for date lunches.

    1. Oh, your preaching to the choir. I wish I could find a group of ladies to lunch with in my area. I've tried so many times to get together with other women and they always have an excuse. Maybe it's me, for now I'll have to settle for my kitten, hubby, and blog friends for company.
