Tropical Prints with Ageless Style

Ageless Style is a monthly style challenge and link up for women of all ages.   Each month we pick a different theme and style an outfit based on that theme.  This month's theme is "Tropical Prints" and it was picked by Mirelle.

It is summer time and what screams summer more than Tropical Prints?  I was shopping at TJMaxx the other day and I couldn't believe all the items with tropical prints they had! They sure must be trending this year, and I certainly don't mind for I always loved fun tropical prints.

Although I already own several items in my closet with tropical prints, they are all in neutral colors and I really wanted to wear something with more color for this post.  I had some reward points from JCPenney that needed to be used before they expired, so when I found this fun tropical print dress into my cart it went.  After my points, I only spent $8.67 on THIS DRESS

I ordered it on-line so I was a little shocked how short it was.  I'm 5'7 with a long torso so most above-the-knee dresses are too short on me.  I might only wear this at home or as a beach cover up.  But I sure do love it.  The fit and flare style is always one of my favorites, and the tropical print is so fun!

I styled my new dress with a chambray shirt, a large beach tote bag, and yellow flower flip flops.

Even my jewelry was tropical like this hand made beaded bracelet with sea shells and fish beads.

I chose a necklace and earrings that had beach colors in them.

Isn't the tropical print on this dress just so fun and whimsical?

Don't like to wear too much color?  Here I'm wearing tropical print pants in neutral tones:

And what if you don't like prints at all?  Well you can still join the tropical trend by wearing tropical colors like the bright coral I have on below:

Whether it's bright, fun tropical prints, neutral colored tropical prints, or just tropical solid colors there are many ways you can join in on the tropical style this summer!

Now be sure to check out what the other ladies in the group are wearing and link up with us as well!

  1. That is a cute dress with such a fun print! You could always try pairing it with bike shorts, Bermuda shorts, or fitted capri pants underneath to wear it outside the home.

  5. That dress is too cute to only be worn at home. Have you tried layering it over another longer skirt (a white one would be fabulous) or even over a longer white dress?
I love how happy the print is.

    1. Thank you. That's a good suggestion, it would have to be a thin longer skirt/dress otherwise it'd be too bulky.

    1. Thank you. It's nice that I have greenery again for fashion photos. It's so hard finding a place to shoot photos at the other times of the year.

  7. What a great idea to share a look that features tropical colors (in solids) for those who aren't wild about prints. That coral color is lovely on you.

But that dress!! Oh, my gravy. What a steal. I order from JCP regularly and find their clothing is still affordable and good quality. You styled that darling dress perfectly. Love it with the denim jacket, those fun yellow sandals and your great accessories. As far as length goes, you, my friend, have an excellent figure. Hope you will enjoy wearing this whole outfit in good health all summer long.

  10. It's a beautiful dress, so perfect for summer! I love how you styled it with the chambray shirt and pretty accessories too! Also, you have great legs, you should definitely wear it. Biker shorts or black Jockey skimmies shorts would be perfect for this.
