Blue and Gold

This is a pre-scheduled post.  I am in Illinois helping my daughter with my grandchildren.  They do not have Internet service so I will be unable to respond to comments or visit your blogs until I return.

I am not a sports fan at all but when I started to write this post I couldn't help but to think of the "Blugolds".  When I first moved to this area I kept hearing that word and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what it meant.  Finally, I just asked someone and she told me it was the name of our local university's  sports teams.  She said they combined the words "blue" and "gold" and made "Blugolds".  I still think it's weird, but my outfit today would definitely represent team spirit!

In today's outfit I am wearing three pieces I received in my October box from Stitch Fix, the blue shirt, the bag, and the earrings.  Everything else is old but I will try and find similar items for you and link to them at the end of the post.

I bought this sweater two years ago from JCPenney.  You can see another way I styled it HERE.  It was definitely popular  and they sold out as fast as you could blink an eye.  The chenille is so soft, and the gold color is perfect for fall.

I thought the neutral bag I received from Stitch Fix would go perfect with this outfit.  It can be used as a clutch or a cross body bag.  In my Sweater Dress Post  I showed it as a clutch, here I am showing it as a cross body bag.

I carried the "Blugold" theme throughout my outfit by choosing a blue and gold ring and a blue bracelet.

This is the top  received in my October box from Stitch Fix.  It is by Daniel Rainn and is called "Darrel Crochet Yoke Knit Top".  You guys,  I can't even begin to tell you how comfy this top is!  The knit is so soft and the material moves with my body.  It feels like I'm in my PJ's when I wear it.

The crochet trim is so pretty and I love the pleats.

I'm wearing the earrings that also came in this Fix.  They are a hammered finished silver metal with a strip of gold in the middle.

I carried the neutral look of the bag down to my feet by wearing these light beige perforated booties.

Top:  Daniel Rainn, similar HERE, HERE, and this one in Plus size only.  Cardigan:  old, similar HERE, HERE, HERE, and this one in Plus size only.  Bag:  similar HERE.  Booties:  similar HERE
Earrings:  similar HERE and HERE.

Be sure to come back on Monday to see a review of my entire box from Stitch Fix as well as the results of my Instagram Poll!

Bell Sleeve Chenille Sweater

My husband and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary in August and our daughter and son-in-law gifted us with a free night at a Bed and Breakfast in Red Wing, Minnesota.  We had so many of our weekends already booked in late summer/fall, that we decided to use the gift certificate as a Christmas getaway.  It was a good idea because it allowed us to step away from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and enjoy a relaxing weekend;  plus, we got to see the B&B decorated for Christmas!

It was a pretty cold weekend, so for the first evening I wore a new bell sleeve chenille sweater from JCPenney.

This sweater is so soft, cozy, and warm.  I am such a sucker for chenille and I am very grateful it has made a comeback.

I echoed the color purple of the sweater in my jewelry choosing a lavender and silver necklace and a deeper violet bracelet.

Bell sleeves are a huge trend this season, but I'm trying to hold back and not buy too much for I don't want a closet full of trendy blouses that are no longer of any use to me once they go out of style.  So far I've only purchased this sweater and a dress with statement sleeves.

I paired my chenille sweater with a Kut from the Kloth jeans and black ankle booties.

The bell sleeves are a 3/4 length,  so they don't get in my way like a longer bell sleeve would.

They style of the sweater is a bit square, and could add unwanted pounds to your frame, so I suggest sizing down if you purchase this sweater.  I'm wearing a medium, but I probably should have bought a small.  I ordered on-line and ordered a medium to be safe.

The a.n.a 3/4 sleeve chenille crew neck pullover sweater is available in nine different colors.  I'm wearing Violet Night.

I will share more of our stay at this beautiful B&B on Wednesday's Travel Post.

Have a Great Day!  Amy

Chenille: A Fabric I'm So Happy To See Return Again!

Trends come and go.  Some trends we hope to never see again, and others we don't want to give up.  Chenille sweaters were one of those trends for me.  I love the look and feel of chenille.  It's so soft, cozy, and warm.  When it was really "in" I purchased every chenille blanket I could find and put one in every room of the house.  I owned several chenille sweaters as well.  But, like all good things, chenille eventually came to an end.  So my chenille blankets were switched out to fleece or fur, and my sweaters back to normal yarns.  But now, chenille is back!  And I for one am loving the return of this beautiful yarn!

You've probably been seeing these gorgeous gold cardigans everywhere in Blog Land.  I was SO excited when I was walking through my local JCPenney and spotted this Arizona Long Sleeve Chenille Cardigan in the Junior Department.  It was a steal for $24.99!

Is this color gorgeous or what?  JCP calls it Ochre Gold but most bloggers refer to it as Marigold.

I just love the length and the iridescent quality to the yarn.  And yes, it's as soft and warm as it looks!

I wore a old sleeveless black tank underneath the sweater, skinny jeans, black booties, and I carried a burgundy bag.

My new tortoise shell bracelet I picked up on clearance for around $3.00 at JCP went perfectly with my new gold chenille sweater.

I also wore a black/rust scarf as it was cold this day.

Underneath the scarf I wore a three strand stone and old necklace in case I got cold and removed the scarf.  But it was so cold, I never did.

Here is the look without the scarf.  I think it looks much better with the scarf, don't you?

I wore a high heeled bootie by Liz Claiborne (old).

It's important to note that these type of sweaters can make you look heavy and frumpy.  I find it's best to keep what I wear underneath body skimming, and to also add a shoe with a bit of a heel.

Here are some other cute chenille cardigans I found on Pinterest.

I love this color-block one.

There were quite a few marigold sweaters on Pinterest just like mine (I told you it was popular).  Here are some other ways to style it:

With a all-black base and blanket scarf:

Isn't this pink chenille cardigan so pretty?

Here's another marigold sweater worn with a cute white camisole and short blue skirt:

And finally here is a olive green one worn with skinny jeans and black booties.  I think the hat and choker are the perfect added touch!

So what about you?  Are you as happy as I am to see this fabric back again?  I'd love to hear from you!
