Festive & Fabulous with Stylish Monday

On the second Monday of every month a group of style bloggers and I pick a theme, style an outfit based on that theme, and then do a link up together where you can join too!  This month's theme is "Festive & Fabulous"

I belong to two different women's styling groups and both groups decided on "Holiday Wear" for their December theme.  I certainly understand why they both chose the same theme, but it left me in a conundrum because I had to come up with TWO holiday outfits.  I have a lot of holiday clothes in my closet, but I felt like I have shown you those clothes too many times already.  So I decided to take everyday dress up clothes, and transition them into a holiday outfit.

Many women, myself included, don't like to spend money specifically on clothing that can only be worn one day out of the year.  If you're one of those women, you can take any dressy clothing item from your closet and make it look like a holiday outfit simply by adding accessories.

For my "Festive & Fabulous" look, I chose a fancy white blouse and some black dress slacks as my base.  Then I started layering with lots of sparkle and a pop of Christmas red!

This long red pendant necklace brings in some Christmas color.  To fancy up the outfit, I carried a grey clutch with lots of bling and I wore three silver bracelets.

I also added a touch of red with my earrings.  These actually were a Christmas gift to me from a friend who made jewelry.

And it's hard to tell in these pictures, but I pulled my hair back with a black sparkly headband.  Even a sparkly hair accessory can add some Christmas flair to any outfit.

The lace and fancy bell sleeves of this white top really make it appropriate for a more formal affair.

For footwear, I chose inexpensive glitter flats I bought at Old Navy years ago.  These really were a good "investment".  They cost hardly anything, so it wasn't a waste of $$$ to buy them and they get dragged out every year for the holidays.

Jackson decided to photo bomb our photo shoot so I decided to include his picture.  I know many of you love to see photos of him on the blog.

And now let's see what the rest of the ladies in the group are wearing and be sure to link up your "Festive & Fabulous" outfits with us below.

Suzanne

Suzanne - Ask Suzanne Bell -  Be it a festive holiday party or a girls’ night out, your evening will start off more relaxed if you have a few outfits planned out ahead of time.  Looking for some inspiration? Today, I’ve rounded up  some of my favorite holiday outfits (current and past) to hopefully inspire you to shop your closet, and sparkle and shine a little brighter this holiday season.

Michele

Emma

Emma - The Style Splash - Festive outfits mean lots of sparkle for me! I have a few sequin skirts and jackets, but recently I bought these fabulous trousers on eBay. The sequins are flippy - silver one way and multi-coloured the other. I’ve teamed them with a pink bow top that reminds me of a Christmas present…I’m definitely getting into the festive spirit!

Nicole

Nicole - High Latitude Style - Our Christmas season started with a Christmas concert of the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra. The dress code was festive Fairbanks Formal. It means you can wear an evening gown. So I did with a puffer vest over the gown. Independent from the aforementioned dress code, for me festive attire means evening wear. Sequins, velvet, tulle, lace, silver or gold sandals, big costume jewelry, bold jewel colors or black. However, given the cold weather of Interior Alaska, I have to be creative to stay warm. Leggings under an evening gown, for instance.

Andy

Andy - Pearls and Pantsuits - Just give me all the sparkle! (and then some) Nothing says holidays like sequins and sparkle, and a top like this one can take me through New Year’s Eve in shiny style. The sequined sleeves are everything. Click through to read all about my top, and get my style tips for looking fabulous this holiday season!

Julie

Julie - Fashion Trends and Friends and Instagram FashionTandF -  This is your time to sparkle and shine!  I don’t need much reason to add on the bling, glitz and glam!  This is right up my extra loving alley!  Is there such a thing as too much or too many rhinestones, glitter and sequins?!  I think NOT!  Time to get your HOLIDAY SPARKLE on friends!

Nancy

Nancy -  Nancy’s Fashion Style -Here in the Netherlands we have a second Christmas day, and of course Christmas Eve, so that’s three outfits!I will definitely wear a tulle skirt! I think I will wear this polka dot one and my denim blue one. But it all depends on my mood! Might become something totally different!

Joy

Joy -   Joyous Styling    A little sparkle for the holidays!

I subdued it with a black wool turtleneck.

I added a statement necklace and rockstud heels  to complete the look.

Shelbee

Shelbee - Shelbee on the Edge - For some festive holiday spirit, I pulled together big bold prints for what is probably my happiest outfit ever. I could not stop smiling while wearing this combination of red plaid and giant stars with double pom poms on my head.

And Me!

Amy - Amy’s Creative Pursuits - I don’t like to spend money specifically on holiday clothes that I can wear only once a year, so see how I take everyday dress clothes and add some sparkle for the Christmas season.

Have A Great Day! Amy

    1. Thanks Jessica! I'm so surprises a few people think this is a casual look, because in my neck of the woods this is a dressy look. But you're not the first to put it in that category. When I think casual, I imagine a cozy Christmas sweater and jeans.
