Two Guy Cards That Don't Involve Hunting or Sports

Have I said how much I hate making cards for men?  Well, I do.  They are just soooooooo boring.  I mean really, can't guys have any other interests other than sports or hunting?  O.k. beer, and women too...but I don't make those type of cards. And the worst part is, I have to make so many cards for guys...all the time.  Snore.  Occasionally I'll get to make a card for a guy that likes music and then I'm excited to do something different for a change.  And if I know a guy has a soft spot for animals, well, then I have lots of cute animal images I can use.  But, most of the guys I know just like sports and hunting, so that's the theme I usually go with.

That being said, I got so sick and tired of coloring the same deer and outdoor images from my old retired Stampin' Up! sets that I sold them all on Ebay.   And they went like hotcakes too!  There's not a lot of great outdoor images out there for masculine cards.  Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake selling them, because every time a guy's birthday comes up, I have nothing to work with.  Nah!  I was so sick of making cards with the same old stamps.

So, I had two guys at my church I had to make cards for and this is what I created instead:

Plain, clean, simple.  Totally boring.  Totally a guy's card.  Yep, another dull card.

To make my card, I first chose masculine colors other than blue, brown, black or green.  I mean, can I at least use a different color in the rainbow please?  I didn't think the guys would object to a rusty orange.  Very masculine, don't you think?

I stamped a masculine pattern onto the rusty orange card stock.  It was a $1.00 stamp from Studio G.

Then I just added a retired Stampin' Up! sentiment from "Happiest Birthday Wishes", cut it out with Spellbinder's Nestabilities, and popped it up on dimensionals.

A masculine button and a tad of ribbon were all the embellishments this card needed to keep it "guy approved".

For my second guy card, I kept the same principles but changed the image, sentiment and card base color.

This time I used an image from PTI's "Through the Trees" and stamped the sentiment directly onto the card stock.

I didn't use any embellishments because I thought the image was enough...especially with the highlighted red cardinal.

So what about you?  Do you like making cards for men, or do you find it totally boring too?  I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great day! Amy

I don't think I could have parted from some of those sets you sold...

  3. You're making me want to go get craft:) I love how both of these look so masculine but still so well done and professional! Cards are always something I want to make, and then crunch time happens and I never do! These help me get that motivation:)
