While we were taking The Winter Park Florida Scenic Boat Tour, our tour guide spoke about Rollin's College for you could see it's spires and boat house from the lake. He said it was voted one of America's most beautiful college campus, so of course I had to go check that out for myself!
The college sits at the edge of the beautiful Lake Virginia and is just a few steps away from downtown Winter Park. It was the first college founded in Florida in 1885. All the buildings on the seventy acre campus have a Spanish Mediterranean design.
This building housed their student bookstore and coffee shop, with a nice patio area to sit outside and drink your coffee.
As stated earlier, the campus is bordered by Lake Virginia. There are gorgeous, tranquil, well-paved walking paths leading up to and all around the lake. If I were a college student here, I'd be walking/running on this lovely path everyday!
I can never get over the beauty of Florida trees and landscapes. I just love palm trees!
Just look at all the birds who live in these trees!
The size of the trees growing right next to the lake were amazing. They are obviously sinking their roots deep into the lake water and loving it! Look at the size of this tree trunk!
The campus had a gorgeous church...Knowles Memorial Chapel... and we were lucky enough to be able to peek inside too!
I just loved the huge wooden doors!
There were many of these beautiful covered walk ways on campus. We also saw these at Flagler College in St. Augustine. It is common for this type of architecture. I'm not sure if they exist to protect one from walking in the hot sun, or the numerous spontaneous rain showers that fall from the sky everyday in Florida. They sure are pretty though, aren't they?
A side view of the church. I love that palm tree growing right in the corner, don't you?
I have a few more pictures of this beautiful campus in a garden post of Winter Park HERE in case you missed it.
Have a Great Day! Amy

ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful, love the covered walkways. They remind me of Europe a lot.
ReplyDeleteReally gorgeous campus and I can never say no to palm trees :-) As my oldest daughter gets middle school aged, I am starting to think about the college tours we should start in a couple years. Happy Thursday. XOXO, Elif
