How to Make a Personalized Greeting Card Without Spending a Dime

Whenever I make a greeting card, I try my very best to create a card that reflects the interests and personality of the recipient.  The card I made below was created for a young man who loves Charlie Brown.  I knew I wanted to make a Charlie Brown card for him, but I didn't have a Charlie Brown stamp.  At first, I looked at coloring books and children's books.  I didn't think the coloring book would work because I needed the paper to be card stock.  And the children's books were just too expensive.  I thought, "If I'm going to spend $5.00 on a book to make a card, I might as well just buy a Charlie Brown card!"  So finally I turned to the Internet and googled "Charlie Brown Free Outline Images"  and a wonderful assortment of pictures came up!

All I had to do was pick which image I liked and print it onto card stock.  I re-sized the image to get the size I wanted.

I colored my image with Copic Markers (I didn't do my usual artistic coloring because it's a cartoon image and they don't do a whole lot of shading with them), cut it out, and adhered it to black card stock.

I then adhered that piece onto my white card stock base, and then stamped a sentiment.

Now some of you may be thinking, "I don't have any card stock, stamps, or ink, so how can it be free!".  You're right!  I'm a life time crafter with a plethora of paper and stamps, so I didn't need to buy anything to make this card.  If you don't already own card stock you can buy a single sheet of black and a single sheet of white card stock at most craft stores for as little as 25 cents a piece.  As for sentiments, you can print that out too using your computer, or, if you have great hand writing, you can simply write it !  A "Happy Birthday" sticker would also work.  Another option is to  buy a $1.00 stamp from the dollar bins at either Michaels or JoAnns.  They even have $1.00 ink pads too!

It was so easy finding this cute Charlie Brown image, that I think I will be looking for fun free images to print out in the future to make more personalized cards!

Have a great day!  Amy
