Fashion Over Fifty: Winterizing a Warm Weather Piece

Hello!  My daughter brought home this cute spring/summer skirt for me to try on when she was visiting over the holidays.  Because it is a thinner material meant for warmer weather, I had to 'winterize' it!  I did this by combining it with a sweater, tights, and boots.  It works because of the dark colors in the skirt.  The fabric may be for spring/summer, but the colors scream fall/winter!

I wore a silver sequin tank from Express (old) underneath my eggplant cardigan from Sears.  If you remember THIS POST, the sweater I have on is the same, only in eggplant instead of white.
For jewelry I wore a multi-strand purple beaded necklace from Charming Charlies (old), silver hoop earrings (old), and some multi-colored beaded bracelets (old).
I put a big black belt around my waist to give me the illusion of a waist, and to hide my tummy a bit.  I don't think it was effective, but I tried!
I absolutely love the color of this sweater!
For footwear, I wore my very old black booties from Famous Footwear.  They are so old they are peeling a bit on the toe.  I did buy a replacement pair, but for some reason I still love the design of these, peels and all, so I still wear them.
The skirt is on the short side, so I wore black tights underneath to help it look less revealing.  I don't think I'd ever wear a skirt this short with bare legs.  It would also look nice with leggings.
So what about you?  Do you have some skirts or dresses that you can wear in the winter by just adding a sweater and some different accessories?  I'd love to hear from you!

Have a great day!

Amy
