You're the Cat's Meow!

Hello! For today's card I am using a sleeping kitty image from Wink Wink Ink called 'Cat Nap'. This kitty image reminds me so much of my own kitty 'Simba'. And this is the only time Simba is so well behaved and looks sweet, when he is sleeping. LOL!

To make my card, I pulled out my trusty old DCWV 'The Pet Stack' papers that I use for almost all of my animal cards. Its really getting low, either someone has to come out with new pet papers, or I'm going to have to buy another stack! LOL! I added ribbon and a photo hinge for embellishment.

So what does the phrase 'You're the Cat's Meow!' mean anyway? Does anyone know that could enlighten me? I have several cat stamp sets, and every set I own includes this phrase and I can't for the life of me figure out what its suppose to mean.

Although the image comes available pre-colored or in black and white, I colored it myself with Copic Markers. Here is a close up so you can see the coloring. The sentiment is retired Stampin Up!

Have a great day! Amy

  3. Fantastic card! Love it!

"You're the cat's meow" is an old, old saying....I think like back from the 30's or 40's. It basically means "You're the best."

  7. Super cute. Love the choice of patterned paper. Thankfully DCWV still has that pack available so you can buy more.

    Here's what your saying means:

Cat's meow - Something considered to be outstanding

Coined by American cartoonist Thomas a. Dorgan (1877-1929) whose work appears in many American newspapers.

It was popular in the 20s along with "you're the bee's knees" and "you're the cat's pajamas" and other such idioms that meant that you're terrific.
