Ageless Style Link Up " Inspired By A Song"

The Ageless Style Link Up-  The first Monday of every month a group of over forty fashion bloggers pick a monthly theme and show different ways of styling it.

This month's Ageless Style Theme is brought to you by Jodie!  Jodie's theme required us all to be a little more creative this month because she asked us to create an outfit "Inspired By A Song".  I immediately thought of one of my favorite hymns "In The Garden" and decided to create an outfit using fall florals and have my husband take pictures of me in my own fall garden.  I know, not very creative, but it's definitely me!

I love the old hymn "In the Garden" so much because it's in nature, and especially in my very own garden, where I feel closest to God.  No matter what's going on in the world, it is where I find peace and comfort.  I've said numerous times on this blog that I don't know what I would have done without my yard during the Coronavirus lockdowns.  I felt so bad for people trapped in tiny apartments unable to go anywhere for months.  At least I had the beauty of my yard, and always lots to do to keep me occupied, to provide some comfort.

I started scrolling through YouTube to find a video of this old hymn, and although I found many, it is this different song I would like to share with you.  I love how the song is performed in a garden and you can hear the birds singing.  It reminded me of my own yard, filled with so many different kinds of birds.  I love to hear birds sing.  It is so soothing and peaceful.  But as I listened further on in the song, I heard the lyrics "Then I saw the garden.  Hope had come to me".  It's how I feel every time I'm in my own garden or I'm hiking and I see God's incredible handiwork in nature.  Peace comes over me for I know a God who can create and take care of such a magnificent earth can certainly care for me.

Here is the song, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

And these are just a few of the lyrics that resonated with me the most.  I really love the sentence "Faithfulness in all the green".

I had all
But given up
Desperate for
A sign from love
Something good
Something kind
Bringing peace to every corner of my mind
Then I saw the garden
Hope had come to me
To sweep away the ashes
And wake me from my sleep
I realised
You never left
And for this moment
You planned ahead
That I would see
Your faithfulness in all of the green
Now, how did I create an outfit based on this song?  Well, I started with what gardens are known for:  flowers!  Since it's autumn,  I picked a fall floral dress from JCPenney and paired it with a denim jacket.  I wore this dress to both a fall wedding and a fall baby shower.

This dress is so perfect for fall;  the rust color just screams fall.  It is a super comfortable knit and a faux wrap dress, so it is very figure flattering.  Like most wrap dresses, I do have to wear a camisole underneath or too much cleavage would be exposed.

The dress is a steal for less than $25 with coupon.  You can find it HERE.  It's junior sizing but I am wearing my usual size Medium and it fits perfectly.

My favorite feature of this dress other than the color is the hi-lo hemline.  It's floor length in the back, and just slightly below my knee in the front.  I'm 5'7 for size reference.

On the days I wore this dress, the weather was in the sixties so I styled it with open-toe bootie sandals, and I carried a taupe clutch.  For jewelry, I wore a single pearl necklace and earrings, a rose gold bracelet, and a pearl ring.

This dress could easily be styled for even colder weather by adding a cardigan and tall boots.

Now be sure to check out the other ladies of Ageless Style to see what song they were inspired by!

  9. Amy, these photos in your garden are so beautiful. This red floral dress looks amazing on you. And In the Garden has been my favorite hymn for literally as long as I can remember. Wow. You just brought back so many childhood memories of my mom singing that song to me and with me. We played it at both of my parents' funerals as well because it has always been a family favorite. Thanks for that little trip down memory lane.

The song is gorgeous. What a sweet voice. Thank you for sharing. I really like the simple piano.

  21. Lovely song and a great inspired outfit you created, it's a very cute dress! I love layering dresses with denim jackets in spring and autumn!

I'm glad we lived so close to parks and trails for lockdown - and that we moved house last year, I'm not sure how we would have managed working from home and teaching the little ones at the same time without the home office we have now - it was a stressful and noisy few weeks while schools were closed, haha! I'm enjoying it better now the kids are back at school and we are free to move around more.

Hope that you had a great weekend :) Thanks for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup!

    1. Thanks Mica! I'm glad you're allowed more freedom in Australia and your kids are back in school. It all depends where you live in the US as to how much freedom you get to enjoy. Of course, politics are a huge part in the decision making process here. It will be interesting to see after the election how much things change.

  23. Ahhh to be inspired by a song!?! BEAUTIFUL. Great theme too. Like you I also planted a lot and spent a lot of time in the garden during our quarantine. Like you I also wore a rust floral dress with a denim jacket and almost identical nude perforated booties last week. You look great! You always find the best pieces from J.C. Penney.

I loved this post and featured it on Thursday Moda last week. Come take a peak. =)
