How To Wear Printed Pants

Printed pants are a clothing item women either love or hate.  I must admit, I only own one pair of printed pants, and they are a pair of black and grey leggings.  It's really not by choice, I just don't see printed pants in the stores too often.

I received these printed pants in my most recent Stitch Fix box.  They are by Margaret M and are called "Sylvie Printed Straight Leg Pant".  I really liked the print and the fit.

To style my pants, I kept it simple and basic with a black top and black black flats with a white denim jacket for outerwear.

I have an apple body shape, so printed pants are something I can definitely pull off as the lower half of my body is much thinner than my upper half.  If fact,  printed pants might even help to balance my weight throughout my body more.

I chose this black top for several reasons:  1) Too pull out the black color in the print, 2) to try and look slimmer on top, as black is a more slimming color, and 3) to "edge" the outfit up a bit as this top has studs in the sleeves.

Here is a detail shot of the studs in the sleeves.  I purchased this top years ago from JCPenney.

Here is a detail shot of the print in the pants.  I really like how light and airy the pants look even though the stripes are black.  From a distance, the pants appear more white than black;  perfect for spring.  And isn't the side zipper cute?

For jewelry, I went with a black and white bracelet and a silver necklace.

I love the look of flats with ankle pants and chose these black flats (old) to wear with the pants.

One of my favorite things about spring (other than the weather, the birds, and flowers) is all the cute little jackets I can finally wear!  I love hanging up my parka for the season!  Stitch Fix also included this cute white denim jacket from Liverpool in my March box.

The jacket really evened out the ratio of black and white in the outfit and went beautifully with the printed pants.

I won't tell you if I kept these items until I do my Stitch Fix Review post next week, so you'll have to come back to find that out!  As always, I'll have the results of the Instagram poll in that post too!

  1. I adore plaid especially the more masculine versions. Probably because I ended up wearing these kinds of plaids for work so much!!
I just love how you made it more casual with the white jacket too, Amy!!

  2. They look really nice Amy and fit you so well! I haven't seen the poll (not sure how I NEVER see it - maybe I don't spend enough time on instagram LOL) but my guess is you kept them :-) Can't wait to see if I was right on Friday :)

    1. I do the Instagram Polls the first weekend of every month when I receive my Fix. They only last 24 hours because they are in my Instastories. I then move them to my Instastores highlights on my Instagram page. You can see them all there. I can send you a message next time I do one to be sure that you see it. Also, it will be next week Friday when I complete my Stitch Fix review. Thanks so much for visiting!

  3. I know what you mean. I don't see a lot of printed pants either unless it's leggings. I like this plaid pair you featured on your post. The grey is a nice color to work with and I feel that you have more options for wearing it since its a softer hue. I do love at how this outfit turned out and I have an itch to buy a white denim jacket!

    1. Yes, the soft hue is much easier to work with than most printed pants. And white denim jackets are so versatile too! More than the traditional blue ones. I highly recommend it!

    1. Thanks Ruth! I’ve been seeing them on other bloggers, that’s always the first sign before a trend gets big.

I'm parting with some similar trousers as they are too big - will be having to see what i can find that fits me to copy yours. Jacqui Mummabstylish
