The End of Our Last Day in the White Mountain Forest

Hello!  Today's post is all about the end of our second and last day in the White Mountain Forest.  After we were all done hiking trails and visiting waterfalls in the forest, we took the beautiful scenic drive in the park just as the sun was starting to go down.  We got some gorgeous photographs of the historic resort Bretton Woods.  My, what a beautiful hotel this is;  the scenic background is amazing.  I love the pop of the red and white against the green mountains and blue skies.

We also visited a trail that had a really neat suspension bridge over a river.  Of course the boys had to bounce up and down on it and make me sick to my stomach.
Here is the view from the bridge.  It reminded me of Colorado for some reason, and I don't know why.  I've never been to Colorado, but I certainly would like to.

By now I was feeling pretty tired after getting up at the crack of dawn, and hiking and climbing mountains all day, so I was pretty content to just sit in the car and view the scenery from the windows. My husband however was like a little boy in a candy store and just did not want to leave the mountains until he absolutely had to, so he kept stopping the car and taking pictures like the two below.  This was a beautiful lake and picnic area spot along the scenic road.

There were many covered bridges in the area, and this bridge below was one you had to go through to get to the White Mountain Forest.  They are fun to drive through, but they only fit one car, so you have to stop and wait your turn if someone is coming from the opposite direction.
Have a great day! Amy

  1. Oh wow, it looks so peaceful and gorgeous! I'm obsessed with covered bridges (have a whole wall of my house dedicated to pencil drawings of them).
