Spring Dresses with Ageless Style

Ageless Style is a monthly style challenge and link up for women of all ages.   Each month we pick a different theme and style an outfit based on that theme.  This month's theme is "Spring Tops" and was picked by Me!

Spring is the perfect time of year to wear pretty dresses, especially since we have two holidays in spring:  Easter and Mother's Day.  I'm a dress/skirt girl.  A lot of women don't like to wear dresses anymore, but I love it.  I wear dresses and skirts all summer long, and I prefer them over shorts any day.  The dress I have on in today's post is three year old.  I last wore it on a snowy Easter Sunday at home during the pandemic.  You can read all about it in THIS POST and see how differently I styled it then.  You can also see what the dress looks like without the jacket in that post.

I picked this dress for our "Spring Dresses" theme because I think pastel colors are perfect for spring dresses.  My only issue was we can still have chilly days in Wisconsin during spring, so I had to figure out a way to warm the dress up a bit as it is a halter-style dress.  I thought of wearing a white cardigan, but I ultimately went with a denim jacket to try and edge up a very feminine outfit.  I'm not sure I succeeded in that 😆

I think the dress looks much better with heels as shown in my other post.  The longer length of the dress requires heels to elongate the legs.  But since not everyone likes or can wear heels, I wanted to show what it would like with comfortable flats.

I'm still getting a lot of use out of my thrifted handbag.  I can't believe how many compliments I get on this handbag too...and for something that cost me pennies!  It seems every woman wants a good neutral bag and is having trouble finding one like I did.  Now I'm on a hunt for a spacious cross body bag for an upcoming vacation.  I have so many crossbody bags already, but it seems none of them can fit everything I need to carry inside.  Do any of you wonderful ladies have any recommendations?

The denim jacket is super old and is from JCPenney.

My comfy flats are even older:  they are from Payless Shoe Source.  I'm not even sure they are even in business anymore.  I miss them!

Now be sure and check out all the pretty dresses the other ladies in my group are wearing and don't forget to link up with us as well.

Have A Great Day!  Amy

  3. Such a beautiful dress and the colors are perfect for spring! The jean jacket is a great way to add some warmth. Still haven't found one I like and I really need to donate the ones I have as I never reach for them. Think they are all too big on my petite frame and maybe that's why they don't feel right on me.
I love Baggialini crossbody bags for travel. They have different sizes, styles and colors.

    1. Thank you. This jacket is big on me too, but I just wear it anyway. I will definitely google Baggialini. I never heard of them.

  4. I tend to wear jean jackets with my dresses a lot in spring too. I also miss Payless shoe stores-- for cheap shoes I often found some really comfy ones I wore until they were falling apart.

  5. I love the dress with the denim jacket. I just read Leslie's and she did the same thing.
As for the crossbody purses, have you tried the sling purses?? They usually have more space in them, and you don't have to wear them across the front of your chest!!

    1. Thank you. Leslie's post wasn't up yesterday so I haven't seen it yet. I will check it out now. No, I've never tried sling purses because I think they look ridiculous strapped across the chest...especially for someone like me with a big bust. But I didn't know you could wear them another way. I'll be sure to check them out.

  6. The denim jacket looks fabulous with your dress. I think it looks better than a cardigan would. A perfect outfit for spring, Amy!

  8. I like wearing heels until they hurt my feet and I don't like them any longer. We are having a date night tonight and I want to wear heels but I am afraid we are going to be walking and I will be cursing my choice before the night is over. Your dress looks very nice with the lower heeled shoes. The flowers look like hydrangeas. Love them. And your denim jacket is perfect.

    1. I agree! Heels always look better, but they are so hard on the feet. Thanks so much!

  14. Love that dress and especially the length, I can never find dresses that are the right length - downside of being a giant! It's definitely dress weather now! Sim x #unlimitedlinkparty

    1. Thank you. I agree! Most dresses are too short on me. I was excited to find a longer length.

  15. I always wish I was more of a dress / skirts kind of girl, but I end up wearing jeans and trousers...I guess you could say they're my comfort blanket! You look fabulous in this dress. I love the denim jacket...also think it would look great with sneakers too!
