Ageless Style is a monthly style challenge and link up for women "over a certain age". Each month we pick a different theme and style an outfit based on that theme. This month's theme is ""Sweatshirts" and was picked by Jodie.
When Jodie picked "Sweatshirts" as our theme this month, I laughed and said "I don't think I even own a sweatshirt!" I then remembered I had a black souvenir sweatshirt from Italy, so I originally planned on wearing that. But then the weather warmed up and it just didn't feel right wearing a thick black sweatshirt, so off to the mall I went!
While shopping, I couldn't help notice how much sweatshirts really are trending right now! No wonder Jodie picked "Sweatshirts" as our theme. I love how they are wearing sweatshirts with just about everything: skirts, jeans, joggers, wide leg pants...you name it.
I really want to focus on spring/summer clothes on my blog right now, so I chose this white floral sweatshirt from
Old Navy. I had hoped to pair it with a skirt, but I didn't think it matched any of the skirts I already owned, and I didn't want to buy a new skirt in addition to a sweatshirt. I decided then to pair my new sweatshirt with some spring/summer pants that had the same colors in the floral pattern.
These pants are a lightweight cotton. They are from Stitch Fix, and are several years old. They are one of my favorite pairs of pants to wear during the warmer months as they are so cool and comfy.
I think (I hope anyway) that I will get a lot of use out of this sweatshirt this spring. The white color plus the floral pattern is perfect for spring. I do have a casual vacation coming up, so I will definitely get some use out of it then.
Because it's too cold for sandals right now, I chose a white pair of Adidas sneakers for footwear. I also want to add not to be afraid of wearing jewelry with a sweatshirt. Just because your top is casual, you can add some accessories to make it look like you put some effort into getting dressed that morning. Here I am wearing both large hoop earring and a necklace with my sweatshirt.
I want to quickly show you some other ways you can wear sweatshirts this season:
Over a Dress with Sneakers
With Faux Leather Pants or Any Dressier Pants
Or the usual way: With joggers or leggings:
So now let's check in on the rest of the ladies and see how they are styling their sweatshirts and be sure to link up with us below.
So what about you? Is a new sweatshirt something you would add to your wardrobe this spring, or will you pass on this trend? I'd love to hear from you!
Have A Great Day! Amy

ReplyDeleteThanks Joanne!
DeleteAmy, what a fun spring sweatshirt! The floral print is perfect with those pants and I love the casual vibe with your Adidas sneakers, too. Super cute outfit for this transitional season!

Thanks so much Shelbee!
DeleteAmy, Your outfit is fantastic! I am loving your sweatshirt with its floral details.
ReplyDeleteRosemary
Thanks Rosemary.
DeleteI'm sorry to make you go buy a sweatshirt. I thought I'd choose something that everyone would have. Who knew sweatshirts weren't popular in your closet (or Robin's).
ReplyDeleteBut I do love how springy your selection is and especially with those jeans!!

Oh, you didn't make me buy anything. I could have worn my black one, but that one is the traditional sweatshirt with the hoodie and front pocket. I had no idea how to uniquely style it other than the traditional way with joggers. Plus it is black, and I really want to focus on spring and spring colors right now. I'm glad I bought this Old Navy sweatshirt. I think I will get a lot of use out of it this spring.
DeleteYou look fabulous in that outfit. Sweatshirs are my favourite way to stay warm, although most of mine are of National Park motifs.
ReplyDelete-Soma
Thank you! I wish I would have a bought a sweatshirt of every national park I've been to. That would be fun. I suppose I still could as I could order on line.
DeleteI bet you will discover that adorable sweatshirt becomes a piece you reach for over and over again. Perfect for chilly spring and summer evenings or indoors when the AC is going full blast. I love my sweatshirts and have a short sleeved one that I wore often last summer.
ReplyDeleteBut let's talk about your pants. I mentioned on Instagram that I thought they were joggers and you said they really weren't. Whatever they are...those pants are most flattering on you. You look positively spankilicious.
Thank you. I think I will get a lot of use out of this sweatshirt too.
DeleteI really love this look for spring, the pants are such a pretty color! I do have a sweatshirt I like, it's a pale/blush pink with no print (I don't really do graphic prints) so it works for me. I might pick up another one if I see one in a color and style I like. They are definitely easier to care for than knit sweaters which I wear a lot (thinner knits in spring) but many of those have to be hand washed. I did purchase a pretty rust colored sweatshirt a few years ago from Target. But the quality wasn't good and it didn't last long after just a few washes and I'm kind of sad about that!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, it's a nice spring outfit because it's still warm (spring can be so cold in Wisconsin). Sorry to hear about your Target sweatshirt.
DeleteHello dear!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful styling! I love this style with a sweatshirt :) You look just beautiful and you inspire a lot!
Greetings from Poland!
thanks so much! You're so sweet!
DeleteWhat a cute sweatshirt Amy!
ReplyDeleteI think your sweatshirt looks more like a top that can be worn many times this spring!
You and I both were challenged this month!
Thank you. I don't think it looks anything like a top, but I sure plan on getting a lot of use out of it this spring. Yes, this was a challenge for me. I've never been much of a sweatshirt girl.
DeleteGood choice. I love the floral image on this sweatshirt and it would work so well with a skirt or over a dress, with white sneakers.
ReplyDeletebosbodaciousblog.blogspot.ca
Thank you! I wanted so badly to wear it with a skirt/dress, but just didn't have anything that coordinated well with it.
DeleteSweatshirts can be so fun! I love your pretty floral one and the bright pants you paired with it!
ReplyDeleteYes they can! At first I was not happy with this challenge, as I never wear sweatshirts, but because of this challenge, I found a new love! In fact, I just bought another one! ha ha!
DeleteI like how the color of the pants complements the colors in the sweatshirt so perfectly. It's a cute look on you -- just right for spring.

Thanks so much! I think I'm the opposite of a lot of trendy fashion bloggers, I just love to coordinate colors where as others are more risk takers.
DeleteThis is such a cute spring look! Your floral sweatshirt is darling! Love the color of your pants!
