July Bible Journaling Pages - A Deep Study of the Book of Matthew

Once a month I like to share my Bible Journaling Pages and what God has been teaching me.  In the month of July I continued to work my way through the book of Matthew.    Sometimes I just color in the preprinted images of the "Inspire Bible" (available on Amazon) and I also create my own pages.

Unless otherwise stated, all the images are colored in with either gel pens or colored pencils.  I tend to color larger areas with pencils then get the more intricate spots with pens.  I high light my Bible with gel highlighters, and I usually use gelatos or  craft paint for my backgrounds.

Well this month's Bible Journaling post will be short and sweet because I did not do much journaling.  My daughter and her husband and the grandkids came up for a week in July so we were off chasing fun every day.  Then my grandson decided to leave me a parting gift of a summer cold, so I was not able to do much work for two weeks.  I still read my Bible and watched Jon Courson sermons about what I just read, but sitting up at a craft table to Bible Journal was just too difficult when I was sick.  Thus, I only have five pages to share.

The first page is very simple.  I had some old fish images from a Bible Study I did a year earlier (can you tell I never throw anything out?) and I decided to create a page based on Jesus feeding the 5,000.  What a miracle!  Jesus took five loaves and two fish and blessed it, then every single person not only had something to eat, but they "all ate as much as they wanted".  Jesus could have just fed them "just enough" to nourish them till they returned home.  But He didn't!  He blessed them abundantly!

This is a page I created myself because I was so overcome by emotion reading about all the people Jesus healed.  I simply googled a free Bible Coloring page, printed it out on sticker paper, colored it in and cut around it.  I colored the background with a water based marker, and stuck the image to the bottom of the page and hand wrote my sentiment on the top.  I used a different handwriting and color to accentuate certain words from the verse that were important to me.

I created this page to illustration the Transfiguration.  I used the same process as I described for the page above.  I emboldened the words "LISTEN TO HIM".  The Transfiguration was Jesus' way of showing the disciples that He will be glorified in death and it was also God's way of proving to the disciples that He clearly was His son and the importance of how the disciples and we today need to listen to His voice and words.  I also love how it it says Jesus brought God "great Joy".  Jesus was so obedient to the Father's Will.

This is a pre-printed image in the Inspire Bible that I simply colored in with gelatos and gel pens.  It is all about forgiveness, and how we should not only forgive, but keep forgiving.  This doesn't mean allowing yourself to be in an abusive relationship, but we need to forgive those who wrong us, and when those little hurtful feelings come back into our thoughts, we need to forgive again.  And sometimes, again, and again, and again...you get the pictures.  Forgiveness is rarely a one time occurrence.  We can say "I forgive you", but often we still get a painful feeling or vengeful thought in our mind even years later, and we must in our head and our heart, forgive again.

I really love how this pre-printed image turned out.  Purple and yellow look so good together.  I used many different shades of green for the foliage and filled in the dead space with blue to represent the sky.  Jesus said loving the "Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind" is the first and greatest commandment.

I spent over a week studying Matthew 24.  Jon Courson had so many great sermons based on this chapter.  It definitely is my favorite chapter in the book of Matthew, especially now, since I truly believe we are living in the last days.  Jesus' return is very near!  Are you ready?

Have A Great Day!  Amy
