What I Wore In January

Once a month I like to do a round up of my daily outfits.  I always post my daily outfits to my Instagram and Facebook Stories, and at the end of the month I round them all up and show them on the blog as well.

This month, I didn't get out much so I don't have a whole lot of outfits to show.  And when I did get out, it was either super cold or snowy so I have mostly "extreme cold snowy" outfits this month.

First up is an outfit I wore the day after we were hit with a monster snowstorm.  The roads were clear the next day, so it was safe to drive, but there was still a lot of snow on streets and parking lots so I wore my snow boots.

It was a warm day, so I went without a coat and just wore a thick puffer vest with a warm sweater and hat.

I first tried this outfit with a burgundy Pom Pom hat, but the burgundy in the hat clashed with the burgundy in the vest, so I changed the hat to a black/grey one.

I wore this outfit to run errands.  Grey skinny jeans, a black v-neck cable sweater, and black combat boots.

It was below zero the day I wore this outfit shopping and out to lunch with the hubs.  I've had my OTK boots for several years now, but I still don't feel comfortable wearing them so I only wear them on extremely cold days.  These OTK boots keep my legs so warm!  I never feel cold air on my legs when I wear them.  I wore burgundy skinny jeans with the boots and a beige cowl neck sweater.

And finally, an outfit I wore to church and then over to a friend's house for lunch.  The sweater is a chenille belle sleeve and is so soft and warm.  My pants look dressy, but they are made of a legging material so they are very comfortable.  I completed the look with black booties.

Have A Great Day!  Amy

  1. You always look so pulled together and lovely! I also live in a cold snowy climate and like you don't leave home every day of the week in winter or otherwise for that matter. (I'm a home body.) Sooo...one day I was dressing for a "stay at home day" and I got to wondering what YOU wear when you don't go out. LOL Some days like that I still "dress up" although minimal. Jeans, top, sweater/vest, minimal make-up (mascara - because my eyelashes are light, a little blush and lip color.) Other days I only moisturize, deal with my bad hair for the day and pull on a comfy sweat shirt with my pants and tennis shoes. Do you EVER have what I call a "frumpy day?" I just can't imagine you like that. LOL
P.S. I love your blog. You seem like someone I'd love to know in real life! We have so many similarities!

    1. Thank you. This is such an interesting comment/question and a topic my daughter and I have talked about often. Many years ago I saw an episode on Oprah where she did a fashion show for women who rarely leave the house. Oprah said a lot of women feel bad about themselves if they always wear sweatpants, never do their hair/makeup, etc. I can totally relate to that. So she put together all these cute jogger/casual looks to wear at home. I thought it was great BUT the problem is if I’m at home I’m usually WORKING and getting DIRTY so I don’t want to wear a cute new jogging suit or anything new because I know inevitably it will end up with a stain on it. So what do I wear at home? Usually something that already has a stain or tear on it 😂! In the winter I wear leggings with an old t shirt and I have a favorite white cardigan always nearby in case I get cold. In the summer I’m usually in cut off jean shorts, and a dirty old tee or tank. So very unglamorous! I almost always have my hair in a pony tail as it’s very long now. I never wear make up at home as it’s very expensive and that would just be wasteful to me. So if you surprised me and came over to my house unexpectedly you probably wouldn’t recognize me.

    2. LOL...I knew we had a lot of similarities! I will not feel so alone now when I'm dressing for my days at home! LOL I also have a favorite sweater I always wear at home. Nowadays I call it "Audrey's Favorite Sweater" as my little grand daughter loves to teeth on the faux horn toggle buttons. And, yes, during gardening season I am a REAL fright outside in the dirt. Sometimes, we forget that we're all just real women in the mostly perfect blogging world. Thank you for your reply to my nosy, personal question! Ha!

  5. That's exactly why I LOVE my OTK boots. And heck, if you wear them with longer skirts, no one even knows they are OTK if you aren't comfortable with that!!

    1. I know! They are so warm. Yes, I'm more comfortable wearing them with dresses or skirts than pants.

  6. Not sure I would have more than five for this month. We are traveling and my outfits have been limited to sweats, jeans and shorts with a few different tops. - Margy

    1. It is hard to be a fashion blogger in the winter months when you live in a bitter cold climate. My winter outfits usually aren’t very creative or “pretty”, but they are real. Thanks so much!
