Altered Masculine Frame

Hello! Now that Christmas is over I can finally show some pictures of Christmas Gifts I made for friends. Everyone has received their gifts, so there will be no surprises ruined. LOL! Today I will show you an Altered Masculine Frame that my daughter Ashley and I made for our good friend Julian. I took this photograph of Julian on Easter Sunday last year. For some reason, I just absolutely love this photograph. I think the expression in his eyes and on his face really capture his personality. My only wish was that he wasn't holding a paper plate in his hand, but my husband laughed and said 'Why not? That's him! The only thing that would make it more true would be a coffee cup!'. I agreed with my husband. The best photographs aren't 'poses' but snapshots of who we really are, and this photograph really IS Julian. So, since I thought the photograph would make a nice Christmas gift, I printed it in a 5'7 size in the 'sepia' color tone. Here is a picture of the completed project:
This is the wooden frame I bought a JoAnn's Fabrics and crafts for just a few dollars. I simply covered the front of it with DCWV 'Old World Stack' paper using Modge Podge glue. I then sanded and painted the edges. From there Ashley and I added embellishments. First of all we used a retired Stampin Up! Western Stamp for the main sentiment and focal point.

Then we just added lots of rustic ribbon and trims and decorate buttons. Below is a picture of a Shoe button with a lasso of hemp. All the buttons were purchased at JoAnn's.

Here is a close up of the sentiment. That is a metallic star brad in the center.

The hat is another button, and the star was made with a Cuttlebug Die and Embossing Folder.

And finally a close up of our good friend Julian. Next time I will show you Sandy's (Julian's wife) Christmas Gift.

Have a great day! Amy
