Pretty Pastels From Stitch Fix

Last Friday I mentioned that my April box from Stitch Fix was one of the best boxes I received in a long time.  I've already shown you a cute "Faux Wrap Dress" (HERE), and today I am showing three more pieces I received in that box:  the clutch (also seen on Friday's post), an embroidered top, and light blue pants.

The top is by Pale Sky and is called "Emmy Embroidered Top".  I fell in love with this top the second I pulled it out of the box.  I love white tops in general, and the GORGEOUS embroidery sold me immediately.

The neckline is gathered and can be tied closed or left open.  It has the cutest peach tassels at the end of the cord.  The top is more fitted in the waist area than a typical boho top.

Isn't this embroidery gorgeous?  I love the colors.  I wore this top on Mother's Day and Alethea kept playing with the tassels and tracing the embroidered flowers with her fingers.

The clutch is by Sole Society and is called "Emmet Clutch".

Next up are these pretty pale blue pants by Lila Ryan.  They are called "Kit Button Hem Detail Skinny Pants".

The pants are a super soft thin stretchy material that is so comfortable to wear.  I'm sure I can wear these pants instead of shorts in hot, humid weather and still be comfortable.

I have to admit, it was these cute little buttons that sold me on these pants.  Aren't they an adorable detail?

I loved these pants from the moment I saw them, they will be such a nice alternative this summer when I don't want to wear shorts.  The only drawback to these pants is that there is no belt loop.  If there's any weight fluctuation, these pants will be difficult to keep up without a belt.  Do any of my readers have any suggestions?

I'll let you know next week if I decided to keep any of these pieces, but I'm sure you probably already guessed!  ðŸ˜Š

If you never tried Stitch Fix before, use my REFERRAL CODE to receive $25.00 off your first box!

How To Wear Two Trends At Once: Pearl Embellished Jeans with an Embroidered Top

A few weeks ago I shared a pair of pom pom jeans and a Calvin Klein top that I picked up at a Yonkers's store closing sale.  I picked up a lot of cute, trendy items at that sale, and I will be sharing them all with you in the weeks/months to come.  This is an outfit I wore to a ladies' bible study, lunch with my husband, and shopping.  It was a warm, 80 degree day in September.  I picked up both this lovely embroidered peplum top and pearl embellished jeans for less than $5.00 each at the Yonkers's store closing sale.

I mentioned in my pom pom jeans post that I normally don't buy trendy jeans because they get dated quickly, but for less than $5.00 a pair, why not?  I have about three more left of jeans to show you yet, one of them I think is really wild!

I absolutely LOVE this top!  It's so soft and comfy.  I love the length, the peplum bottom, and of course the pretty red embroidery.  It is a little sheer, so I wore a think camisole underneath it.  I actually purchased it to wear with my red pants, but I thought it looked really cute with these pearl embellished jeans as well.

I am wearing two trends at once in this outfit (embroidery and pearl embellishment) which is usually a no-no, but I think it still works because there is so much white to balance everything out and keep it from becoming too busy.

For accessories I chose red and silver earrings, a red and silver bracelet, and a blue and tan straw bag from DSW.

Aren't these jeans fun?  I first saw pearl embellished jeans appear on the scene last year, so I'm probably a little behind on the trend, but so what?  I love the fun released hem that's longer in back than in front too.

Pearl embellished anything has been trending the past few seasons.  I did purchase one pearl embellished sweatshirt last year, remember THIS POST?

Because I had so much going on in the rest of the outfit, I chose nude sandals so my shoes would blend into the skin tone of my feet and barely look like I even had shoes on at all.

I got so many compliments on this top the day I wore it.  I'm so happy I found it, and for such a great price too.  I love the looser fit, yet the peplum gives the top shape and structure so it's not boxy.

Crushing On Embroidery

On Monday's Fashion Post  I shared how when I fall hard for a trend, I tend to overdue it and buy everything in that trend.  Velvet and Embroidery are my favorite fall trends this season and so far I've purchased two velvet tops and three embroidered items (jeggings, top, and a bomber jacket).  On Monday I showed you my new embroidered jeggings,  and today I am showing a new embroidered top.

I picked up this pretty embroidered top from Francesca's when they were having a special 2 for $20 each sale last month.  This top actually embraces two trends:  embroidery and a criss-cross strap front.

I wore this top both with jeans and these olive colored skinnies.  They are the same green as the green leaf in the embroidery.

Is this embroidery gorgeous or what?

For jewelry I wore an old pink and peach multi-strand bracelet and a new necklace that I also picked up during Francesca's big sale.

My white booties are also from Francesca's, but they are a couple of years old.   I know,  you're probably bummed.  Every time I wear them women ask me where I got them.  White booties are so hard to find!

The bomber jacket is from Macy's (old) and the burgundy bag and olive skinnies are from JCP (old).

So what about you?  Are you embracing any trends this season?  I'd love to hear from you!

Crushing On Velvet

Two trends that are HUGE, HUGE, HUGE this fall are velvet and embroidery.  I don't know about you, but when I fall hard for a trend I tend to overdo it and buy everything in that trend.  I have a special weakness for embroidery.  I don't know it it's the seamstress in me or what, but I just love all the pretty embroidered designs.  Last year I picked up this pretty embroidered bomber jacket, and now I picked up my very first pair of embroidered jeggings.

But another major trend this fall is velvet, and oh, am I having a hard time NOT buying everything I see in this fabric.   It's just so luxe, pretty, and romantic.  When I spotted these velvet tees at JCPenney for only $9.00 I bought two of them because I couldn't decide which color I wanted.  I picked up this blush pink one and a burgundy one.  I love that they have short sleeves because they fit under jackets and cardigans so well, and I also like the boxy cut for they are more flattering for my figure.

Every year when new trends appear they always follow the same format:  They first appear in fashion shows and fashion blogs and you see just a splatter in stores or in public, then,  a year or two later, you suddenly see the trend everywhere in stores and on people.  It seems it always takes awhile for trends to take off (and some don't take off at all).  This has been so true of both velvet and embroidery.  They've both been trending for a few seasons now, but they are HOT, HOT, HOT this fall!

I just love the beautiful shimmer of this crushed velvet tee.

My necklace is a rose gold knotted chain from Francesca's.  The rose gold bracelet is also from Francesca's.

Many of you already know how much I love flower gardens and birds, so I was absolutely giddy when I saw the hummingbird on these jeggings.

These are also the first time I've ever tried jeggings.  I never thought I would like them because I tend to be too uncomfortable in tight pants.  But this material is so soft and stretchy they are the most comfortable jeans I own and they don't feel that they are tight at all.  I love them so much, I might look for more jeggings!  I do have one HINT if you never tried jeggings before:  size up!  I went one size up from my usual pant size so they would fit more like a skinny jean and less like a legging.

I carried my burgundy hand bag (old) to pick up the burgundy in my bomber jacket and the embroidery.

We were hiking a bit this day (I wore this outfit to church and then out to eat and walking a bit to enjoy fall colors) so I wore flat, suede, neutral booties (old).  The soft taupe color picks out the neutral color in the embroidery of the jeggings.

It was cool this day (yes, fall weather finally arrived in Wisconsin!) so I wore my burgundy bomber jacket (old).

The last time I showed you this bomber jacket was in THIS POST.  I picked it up at Macy's for $20.00 when they went out of business in our small town.

Here's a back view of these jeggings so you can see if you size up they do look more like a skinny jean than a legging, and, no, they are not sagging in my butt but fit quite nicely.
