What I Wore In October

It is the end of one month and the start of a new month, so it's time for a monthly "What I Wore" post.  These posts are just a quick review of what I wore in real life.  Most of the time I just snap a picture of myself before I walk out the door, but sometimes someone is around to do it for me.  I'm continuously amazed at how popular these posts are.  I get more hits out of these posts than a more formal fashion shoot.  Who knew women would want to see selfies in front of a mirror of everyday looks?

This is an outfit I wore for a day of errands;  the typical shopping and lunch with hubby kind of day.

The coat is a new olive windbreaker I picked up at TJMaxx.  Everything else I'm wearing is old.  The pants are blue stretch cords from Stitch Fix that I apparently got a lot of use out of this month as they are in a lot of the pictures!

This plaid dress (JCP, old), red tights, and brown boots I wore to church.

This outfit you might have seen in a fashion post titled "Blue and Gold" that I featured earlier last month.  I wore it again when I was in Illinois visiting the kids and grand kids last week.  We went to a an animal rescue center.  It was such a beautiful place, hopefully when I'm done with my Utah Travel Series I can do a post on this special place.

I do love this gold cardigan I bought years ago.  It's such a great color for fall and it's so cozy.  I get compliments every time I wear it.  It's nice to buy a piece that has such longevity.

If you caught Monday's "Grandma & Me" post you would have seen this outfit.  I wore this to a farm in Illinois.  The top is new from TJMaxx, everything else is old.  I'm wearing the same blue stretch cords from Stitch Fix I have on in the first picture.  I love these pants!  They are so comfy.

This is an outfit I wore running errands when the weather was still warm.  I did put a jean jacket over it though.  The top is from Stitch Fix and everything else I'm wearing is very old.

I wore this NEW SWEATER shopping with my daughter and grand kids.  I just love this sweater from JCPenney.  It's nice and long so I wore it with blue leggings.

And finally, an outfit I wore both to church and on a fall hike with my hubby.  You may have seen this one too as I did a full fashion post on it.  I have those same stretch blue cords from Stitch Fix on.  See, I told you I wear them a lot!

What I Wore In September

Once a month I like to do a little review post of all the outfits I wore in my daily life.  I post these daily outfits to my Instagram Stories on the day I wear them, and then I do a "round-up" of the month here.

This is an outfit I wore on a cool, rainy day to get my hair done, run errands, and meet my husband for lunch.  The top and jacket are new from TJMaxx and you'll see more of this top in my November "Grandma & Me" post.  As for the jacket, I already owned two olive green jackets and needed this one like a hole in the head, but I bought it anyway because it was made of nylon.  My other olive green jackets are not rain proof.  And you know what?  Even though it was a spontaneous purchase, this jacket has come in handy because it hasn't stopped raining since I bought it. 🤣 So maybe I needed it after all.

I wore this old dress from Stitch Fix to church.

I wore my new cardigan from my September box from Stitch Fix to go shopping and out to lunch.

Another shopping/lunch outfit on a day when it was actually warm and sunny last month!

I wore my new black pants from my September Stitch Fix box to Illinois for my Grandson's baby dedication.  They were perfect to wear in the long six hour car drive.  The top is also from Stitch Fix, but I got it last year.

I finally got a pair of snake skin print booties!   They have been on my wish list for a while now.  I really wanted the Sam Edelman pair, but this pair from JCPenney was more in my price range.  I got them for around $30.00 with a coupon.  I paired the booties with an old embroidered tee and my new olive green jacket since it was raining again.

An old maxi dress I wore to church.

I wore this off-the-shoulder top on a warmer fall day to go shopping/lunch.  The jeans are also from Stitch Fix.  I received both items last fall.

Another old maxi dress I wore to church.

What I Wore In July

Once a month I like to do a little round-up of outfits I wore in real life.  I know that might sound funny to some, but since a lot of my posts are Stitch Fix items that get sent back, I thought showing outfits I really wore and where I wore them to would be interesting to some people.  These are all "selfies" that were posted to Instagram or snapshots of life in action.

This is a maxi dress I received from Stitch Fix that I wore to church.  It's been a month of maxi's and light weight pants for me because in addition to the burn scar I have from my Thanksgiving accident on my leg, I also got a huge bruise about the size of a baseball from a gardening accident.  My legs literally look like I just crawled out of a war zone.

This more casual knit maxi I wore twice this month:  once to the hospital to visit my grandson and once to an outdoor church service and lunch with friends.

Before my gardening accident,  I wore my new shorts from Stitch Fix at least three times this month. Here I wore it as my going-home outfit.  We checked my daughter and baby Atticus out of the hospital, and then we drove the six hours home.  It was a very comfortable travel outfit thanks to the spandex material of the shorts.

Here I wore the shorts with a red top from JCPenney (old).  I got my hair styled in the morning, then I met my hubby for lunch and went shopping in this outfit.

This was another outfit I wore when I still had a mammoth bruise on my leg.  These are lightweight coral/pink pants that I received from Stitch Fix this year.  I knew these light weight pants would come in handy this summer!  I styled it with a sleeveless floral top (old) that I tied in a knot at the waist.  I love that is popular to tie your shirts in knots again.  I have always tied my shirts in knots whether it was trendy or not, but it's nice that it's super popular to do so right now.

Another church outfit.

Here is what I wore on the six hour car drive to Illinois to meet Baby Atticus:  a comfortable knit t-shirt dress from JCPenney (old).  Notice Alethea with her cheese curds?  This picture was taken when I just got there.  I always bring her cheese curds from Wisconsin every time I see her.  She's gonna grow up thinking cheese curds only come from Wisconsin!  ha ha!

I wore this t-shirt dress from Stitch Fix the first time I met Baby Atticus!

And finally, another shopping outfit.  Again,  I'm wearing lightweight pants because of the large bruise on my leg.  The pants I received from Stitch Fix this spring, everything else is old (JCP).

June Instagram Round Up

Once a month I like to show my readers some snapshots or selfies of what I wear in real life.  Here is my round up for June:

I wore my new dress from Stitch Fix on a warm 80+ degree day to go car shopping with my husband.      I was so cool and comfy in this dress!  I wore it with silver athletic sandals because I thought I'd be walking a lot.

However, I didn't need the comfy sandals after all, because we bought the first car we saw.  I've been driving my new compact SUV for couple of weeks now and loving it!

Other than a warm day here and there, it's still been very cool in Wisconsin.  Father's Day was only 54 degrees if you can believe that!  I wore this outfit to church, then out to celebrate Father's Day with my husband.  We went to lunch then a movie.  We saw "Aladdin" and really enjoyed it.  The choreography was amazing.  Loved all the beautiful color in the film too.  And the actors who played Aladdin and Jasmine were incredible.  After the movie we went to Culvers to get a free Father's Day ice cream cone for my husband.  The top is from Stitch Fix and the pants are from Charlotte Russe.

Sorry this picture is blurry.  I didn't notice it was blurry till it was too late to re-take it.  I wore this dress out to lunch and shopping.  The dress is by Liz Claiborne.

I received this dress from Stitch Fix last year and I wore it to church.

I wore this outfit to church on another cool day.  I think it was in the sixties on this day.  The top is from JCPenney.

Another church dress and also another Stitch Fix dress.  Stitch Fix has the best dresses!  I rarely return any dress I receive from Stitch Fix.

I wore this Stitch Fix dress to get my hair done, then I met my husband for lunch and ran my weekly errands.

I guess you can tell by this post how much use I get out of my Stitch Fix clothes and how long I keep them.  They really do have longevity in my closet.  Both the dress above and the top below are from Stitch Fix and I received them both over a year ago.

I wore this outfit running errands and having lunch with my husband.

As I put together this post,  I couldn't help but notice that I either wore a dress or white pants with a cute top.   It's my spring style:  white pants whenever it's too cold to wear a dress.

May Instagram Round-Up

May was not a good month here in Wisconsin;  but, is it ever?  We have a few nice sunny 70 degree days, and the rest of the time it's rainy and cold.  It's always a struggle for me to dress for these chilly spring days,  I find it the hardest time of year to dress for;  do you?  Anyway, these were some of my daily outfits:

The is a look I wore to see an opthalmologist.  I recently had the scare of my life causing me six full weeks of sleepless nights and anxiety.  I went to get my annual eye exam to renew my contact lens prescription.  My usual optometrist wasn't available on the day I wanted to schedule the exam, so I went to Walmart instead.  Big Mistake!  The optometrist there told me I was at risk for developing glaucoma.  I tell you, hearing I could possibly be going blind scared me half to death!  I tried not to worry, but of course I did (who wouldn't upon hearing that news?).  But it all ended up for nothing as the Opthamologist that I was referred to said I did not have glaucoma and would never develop glaucoma.  He also said to never go to Walmart for an eye exam again;  believe me, I won't!

I wore this outfit on a rainy, cold day to get my hair done:  leggings, a white slub sweater, black loafers, and a utility jacket.  This utility jacket was one of the first items I ever received from Stitch Fix and I have gotten so much use out of it over the years.

On a day it didn't rain, I was finally able to wear some suede!  On a shopping day, I wore my suede jacket and suede booties with a boho top and pom pom jeans.  The jacket and top are both Stitch Fix pieces.

This look I wore to church.  The top is from Stitch Fix.   I always like to point out my Stitch Fix pieces so you can see how often I wear them and how many years I have them.  I've noticed my pieces from Stitch Fix tend to stay the longest in my closet.  I think it's because I give a lot of thought to which pieces I keep from my box.

I wore this look shopping and out to lunch with my hubby.  The top and blue suede booties are from Stitch Fix.  This utility jacket (also shown in the first picture in this post) is an old one from Dress Barn.  If it's not raining, I like to wear this jacket because it's a bit more fitted than my Stitch Fix one.  The utility jacket from Stitch Fix has a hood, which is why I like to wear it when it's raining.  This one pictured below does not.

We had a 70 degree day last Sunday, so I was finally able to wear one of my maxi dresses to church.  I swear, summer will be over before I get to wear all of my dresses at least once this season. 😠 I wore the jean jacket over the dress in the morning because it was chilly and it is a halter style dress and I didn't want to expose that much skin in church.  But as soon as the service was over, the jacket came off and I soaked up the sun!

The dress is from Stitch Fix.

And finally, here is what I wore to Cedarburg, Wisconsin on Mother's Day weekend.  It was freezing that weekend, so I layered up with my Stitch Fix utility jacket once again.  It was a full day of walking, so I wore some new white Adidas sneakers.  I added a blue and white gauze scarf for extra warmth.

Spring Instagram Round-Up!

It's been awhile since I've done an "Instagram Round-Up", so I thought I would do one for you today. And if you're wondering "What is an Instagram Round-Up?" they are pictures (selfies) of my everyday outfits that are posted to my Instagram Stories under the hashtag #OOTD (Outfit of the Day).  Most style bloggers do an #OOTD outfit because readers like to see what we wear on our ordinary days.

I will mention the stores or brands of the items I am wearing because I know everyone is always curious where people shop, but I won't include links because everything I am wearing in the pictures below is either old or sold out.

This is an outfit I wore to a ladies church brunch at some one's home.

Pants:  Burgundy Jeggings - Stitch Fix,  Tops - JCPenney

I wore this outfit to church on a cold spring day.  I'm sure you've heard me say it many times before but when the weather is still cold, yet the calendar says it's spring, I dress warm, but with light, spring colors.

Cardigan - CJBanks, White Shell Top - Calvin Klein, Embroidered Jeans - Younkers, White Boots - Francescas .

This is an outfit I wore just to run into town to have my hair done.  That is why my hair looks so different.  I can never get it to look this way on my own.
The top is a short sleeve velvet tee from JCPenney,  white jacket - CJBanks, same embroidered jeans and boots above.

Here I wore the same jacket and booties as I did above but with a coral sweater and pearl embellished jeans.

I wore this look to go shopping.

Top - TJMaxx,  pants - Liz Claiborne,  flats - Payless Shoe Source .  On a side note, I can't believe Payless is going-out-of-business, can you?  I have rarely shopped there in the last few years, but I remember shopping there a lot in my younger years.  Other than Walmart, there aren't many low cost shoe stores available anymore and it makes me wonder where a lot of people will be able to get more inexpensive shoes.

This is an outfit I wore to church.

Blazer and shell - CJBanks,  jeans - a.n.a. JCP,  booties - Blowfish

Well, I can tell by hair that this is an outfit I wore to get my hair done!  ha ha!

White sweater - JCPenney,  lace cami - CJBanks,  eggplant leggings - Stitch Fix,  black booties.

Another church outfit!

White choker top - JCPenney, red pants - Stitch Fix, black wedges - JCPenney.

And yet again, another church outfit.  Can you tell what a boring life I lead?  Seriously, the only time I leave the house is to go to church, shop, or get my hair done!  ðŸ¤£ And, I like it that way!!!  I'm a homebody.

Black embroidered bomber jacket - JCPenney, floral top - Ross, black pants - Stitch Fix, black wedges - JCPenney

This is an outfit I threw on just to pick my husband up after work and grab a quick dinner at Subway. Yea!  I did something different!

Nautical sweater - JCPenney,  jeans - a.n.a JCPenney, loafers - Dr. Scholls

And finally, here is an outfit I wore on a rainy shopping day.  Of all my daily outfits I've shown you, this outfit got the most compliments from strangers.  It always surprises me what outfits people tend to like the most.  Most women commented on how much they loved the scarf or boots!  Accessories do matter!  A cute scarf or a great pair of shoes can make an outfit.

Utility jacket - Stitch Fix, scarf - ?, distressed boyfriend jeans - JCPenney, white sweater - Talbots, booties - Francesca's.
