A Handmade Disney Valentine and A Galentine Card

With Valentine's Day this Friday I have two more Valentine Cards to show you.  If you missed my other Valentine cards I made this year, check them out HERE and HERE.

My darling granddaughter has officially entered the Disney Princess stage of life, and I'm sure it's all my fault.  I introduced her to Snow White when I was taking care of her last summer while mommy was in the hospital with baby Atticus.  To help occupy her during long car rides I would play Disney music videos on my phone.  Her parents don't have data with their phones, so she thought I had some type of magic phone that it could play cartoons.  Of all the videos I showed her, she loved the Snow White ones the most.  My husband thinks it's because I sound like Snow White when I talk (I really do!  I've always been embarrassed about my "funny" voice).  I say it's probably because her mother looks just like Snow White, with her dark hair and porcelain skin.  Or, maybe it's both.  Who knows? Wouldn't it be great if we could read the mind of a two year old?  Whatever the reason Alethea loved Snow White, it brought her comfort when she was apart from her parents for the very first time, and that's the most important thing.

To make my card, I actually had a Snow White stamp.  You can find Disney stamps on the Internet or in craft stores.  Mine is from Inkadinkado, but it's pretty old so I'm not sure if it's still available.  I'm sure you could also print an image off your computer and cut it out (just don't sell it and you probably won't be breaking any copy right laws) or cut images out of Disney coloring books.

I stamped my Snow White image on a separate piece of card stock, colored it in with Copic markers, and fussy cut it out.  I googled images of Snow White so I knew what colors to use.  I popped her up on dimensionals on the main image panel.

The two oval panels were cut with Spellbinder's Nestabilities.  I stamped a sentiment directly onto the main image panel.  I also stamped some flowers on to the main image panel and colored them to match Snow White's dress.  I also stamped two flowers on to separate card stock, colored them in, cut them out, and glued them on the main image panel.

I ran a yellow piece of card stock through my Cuttlebug to emboss hearts on it.  A yellow Prima flower and red ribbon finished the card.

Once the ribbon was wrapped around the yellow card base, I adhered the whole thing to a white card base.

My next card is a "Galentine Card" I made for one of my very best friends who is going through a difficult time.  I hope it encourages her.

This card is made with a die.  All the little hearts are partially cut by the die.  I bent a few hearts out, colored the hearts with pink and red makers, and then put some Stickles on them too.

Because when you bend the hearts out you can see what's behind them, I added a red card stock base behind the white base.

I stamped a sentiment beneath the heart and added a few more stamped hearts around the sentiment.
The entire card was then glued to a white card base.

And finally, I wanted to show you a couple of pictures of Alethea receiving her Valentine box from me.  I had to send it a bit early based on my schedule,  otherwise it would have been a day late.  Her mother said she was "Overjoyed" by the treats I sent her and that she loved the Snow White card and started singing the "Hi Ho" song.

You can see how happy she is in these photos by these little, simple gifts.  It gives me so much joy to see her so happy.

Have A Great Day and a Great Valentine's Day too!  Take some time this weekend to show the loved ones in your life how much you care.

A Handmade Fall Card “Fall Leaves”

This is a pre-scheduled post.  I am in Illinois helping my daughter with the grandchildren.  They do not have Internet service so I will not be able to respond to comments or visit your blogs until I return.

I am going to take a brief break from Bible Journal pages for the next few weeks so I can show you the fall cards I made for my family.  I don't make Halloween cards anymore, but I still love to give my kids and grandkids a holiday card and some treats, so I make fall cards instead.

This card I made for my son.  I kept it as masculine as possible by using a plaid background in fall colors and leaf stamps.

All the stamps are old.  I really don't see the need to buy new fall stamps every years, so I just keep using the ones I have.  The sentiment is an old Inkadinkado sold stamp.  I colored the stamp with water markers to get the different colors in the image.  The leaves are from an old Stampin' Up! set.  I stamped them in a ink pad that has several different shades of ink in one pad.

I wrapped raffia around the main image panel and tied in a bow then secured a leaf brad on top.  The entire main image panel was popped up on dimensionals.

I matted the card three times before securing it to a white card base:  the plaid designer paper, the solid peach, and the solid brown.  The ovals was matted over the same brown card stock.

Have A Great Day!  Amy

A Handmade Masculine Card

Editoral Note:  This is a pre-scheduled post.  I am in Illinois for the week visiting my children and grand babies.  They do not have Internet service so I will be unable to post or respond to comments till I return.

Summer is months of birthdays and anniversaries for me so I am always busy in my craft room making cards.  All my children and grand babies were born during the summer, plus almost everyone gets married in the summer, so I have lots of cards to make!

My son--in-law's birthday is in August and this was the card I made for him.

To make this card I used an old, retired background stamp from Stampin' Up!.  I stamped just a portion of it on an angle in brown ink.  The stop watch is an old Inkadinkado stamp.  I stamped it on separate card stock, colored it in, cut it out, then popped it up on dimensionals.

The sentiment is also an old SU! stamp.  I stamped it on a piece of separate white card stock, and cut it out using an MFT die.  Then I sewed it on to the main white panel using my sewing machine.  The entire card base was then glued to a brown card base.

An Elegant Wedding Card

I have another wedding card to share today.  I used an Inkadinkado stamp and MFT dies to make the card.

I stamped the bride and groom on a separate piece of card stock.  I then sprinkled black embossing powder on it and heat embossed it.  I cut the image out and popped it up on dimensionals.  The sentiment is stamped directly onto the main image panel.

I cut the swirls with an MFT die out of white card stock and only glued it in certain spots so it would swirl above the card stock a bit.  I glued a ribbon onto the card and also added some crystals.

The bottom swirl is the same die, I just cut it to make it a little smaller.

Have a Great Day!  Amy

Halloween Cards

I hope everyone had a Happy, Fun, and Safe Halloween yesterday.  We were in Galena, Illinois over the weekend and they were having a huge Halloween parade.  We didn't stay for the parade, but we saw people arriving at 10:00 a.m. just to set up chairs and claim a spot, and then as the afternoon went on children and adults wearing Halloween costumes started filling the streets.  It was very exciting and festive.

Today I have some Halloween cards to show you.  I know most paper-crafters posted their Halloween cards back in August and have already moved onto Christmas Cards, but they do that to sell stamps.  I make cards just for fun to give to my loved ones, and I don't want to post them until they receive them, or the surprise is ruined.

I sent these cards to my children and nephew.  The first two uses images from a Inkadinkao Halloween set.  I don't know about you, but I like to keep Halloween "cute" and not "scary", so I absolutely love these sweet images.

I discovered this fun and easy layout from this card HERE.  It was so simple.  I just stamped the image in the corner of a piece of white card stock and colored it in.  Then I hand-drew a cartoon bubble, and cut it out.  I placed the white card stock over a piece of Halloween Designer Paper from DCWV "The Pumpkin Patch Mat Stack".

I stamped the sentiment directly onto the designer paper and then colored it in to make it more noticeable.

I added purple sequins for embellishment.

My next card uses the exact same layout and a different image from the same Inkadinkado set.  The papers are also from DCWV.

If you'd like to see more Halloween Cards that I made with this set, see this post HERE.

And my last card I also cased from this card HERE.  I was so excited to see this modern twist on an old stamp set.  I don't know about you, but I get so tired of stamp companies coming out with "New Releases" every, single, month.  I mean, how many stamps do we really need anyway?  I wish they would do a new card using an old stamp set at least once a month.

This stamp set is super old, and is retired Stampin' Up! "Festive Four".  I followed the original layout almost exactly but I had to make a few changes because my squares were bigger than hers.  If I had the chance to make the card all over again, I'd use smaller squares for I loved the embossed star background on hers.

I cut all the squares, letters and stars using very old Cuttlebug Dies.

The yellow background and stars are glitter paper.  The sentiment is from Inkadinkado.  The designer paper is from DCWV "The Pumpkin Patch", and "The Midnight Spell".

There are three other seasonal stamps in this old Stampin' Up! set.  I loved this layout so much, I might see what I can come up using the other stamps in this set.

Have a Great Day!  Amy
