Casual Holiday Outfits with Ageless Style

Ageless Style is a monthly style challenge and link up for women of all ages.   Each month we pick a different theme and style an outfit based on that theme.  This month's theme is "Casual Holiday" and was picked by Bo!

For the last Ageless Style challenge of 2024 we are showing our "Casual Holiday" outfits.  I was pleased with this challenge because all of my holidays are pretty casual.  When I see other bloggers post all their fancy holiday outfits I always wonder "Where are they wearing those sequined gowns too?  What world do they live in, and how do I get to be a part of that word?" 😀

Our holidays are pretty laid back and chill.  If the weather and timing works out, we go to church for Christmas Eve.  Last year we couldn't go to church because it was so bitter cold, and this year it doesn't look like it will be a possibility because the service is at 4:00 p.m. and the boys won't even be off of work by that time. Other than church we just hang out at the house all week, so fancy attire is not needed.

Because photos are usually taken at Christmas, I do like to look a little nicer than I usually do and I normally wear something festive whether it is a holiday color, or a sparkly sweater.  This year, I will be wearing this pretty green sweater and black leggings.  It is so comfy, I can lounge around the house in it, plus cook, clean, and serve!  The material is thin, so I won't get hot in the kitchen. And the long length is perfect to wear with comfy leggings.

I picked up this pretty green sweater this year at TJMaxx, it is by Michael Kors. I love that brand!  His clothes are designed for an older woman's body type.  I know when I see a Michael Kors label that it will not only fit me, but look great on me as well. And I can't say enough about this GORGEOUS green color,  isn't it flattering?

Jackson decided to pop in the photo shoot to say "Hello".

So what about you?  Is your family a casual holiday or a fancy one?  I'd love to hear from you!

Next month's theme is "Winter Blues" and was picked by Joanne!  If you want to join us, just email me a photo before January 15 and I will include you in the post (email address located on my "contacts/follow" page in the side bar) .

Have A Great Day!  Amy

  1. Ha, exactly what I think too! Though growing up we did dress up for Christmas Eve with my grandmother since she always bought my sister and I very fancy dresses and tights for the holidays and my grandmother liked to dress up too. We are much more casual now and I love your outfit. That green is such a pretty shade.

    1. Thank you. Yes, little girls still usually wear fancy Christmas dresses, especially if they go to church. I think that is also because little girls like to dress up too.

    1. What a surprise to see a comment from you Jodie! Glad you were able to do it on your phone. When I look at my user statistics, most people read my blog from their phone. Yea, the 'casual' seemed added later. First it was 'red', then it was 'holiday', then it was 'casual holiday'. I was happy with 'casual holiday' so I went with that one. :)

    1. Thank you. I think this green is my color. I don't think olive green looks good on me, so it really depends on the shade. Merry Christmas!

  4. Sounds like a lovely holiday season and you look lovely in this green. I am definitely a mix of both casual and dressed-up although I don't have fancy places to go, I set my own dress code to my mood. Merry Christmas!

    1. Thanks Bo. That's great that you set your own dress code. I think most people think I dress up a lot, and I don't feel that I do at all. I think everyone else just dresses down so much these days that I appear dressed up. Merry Christmas.

  5. That green is such a beautiful shade and works so well for you. I never know what I'm going to wear for Christmas at home. I always wear a dress to church because that's how I was raised. I'll be playing handbells at two services on Christmas Eve, but I'll wear the same dress. The bigger issue is whether or not I'll be cold! Have a wonderful Christmas, Amy!

    1. Thank you. I was the same way about wearing dresses to church. In fact, I can remember when it was a REQUIREMENT for women to wear dresses to church if they appeared on the platform (i.e, choir, speakers, etc.). I still always wear a dress or skirt to church in the spring/summer, but mostly just because I like too. If I don't wear a dress to church, where else where I have the opportunity to wear one? But in the winter, I don't usually wear a dress because Wisconsin winters are just too darn cold. Merry Christmas!

  8. That's a lovely casual outfit, especially being accessorized with a beautiful cat! ;)
Years ago we would dress up for meeting at home for Christmas, it was something my mother liked to do, so we did it, too. Since she passed, my Christmas is just a casual one.

    Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you! Jackson does make a lovely accessory. I think dressing up at home would be fun, but my hubby wouldn't go for it.

  9. That is a beautiful green. And it is a very pretty shade on YOU!! Festive without screaming Christmas!! Love it. And something like your sweater-leggings outfit is so much more practical when you are cooking and cleaning and doing all the family things, too. I am always cooking right up until we sit down to eat. Guess I need to break out one of my grandma's aprons so I can dress a little nicer.

  10. That green sweater is beautiful and the perfect look for a festive holiday! I also love to be comfortable but, like you, also know that many photos take place at family gatherings so I try to mindful of that, too. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!

    1. Thank you! Yes, I am mindful of photos taken too otherwise I'd probably just be in a t-shirt and sweatpants :). Happy New Year.
