A Christmas Home Tour and Some Of Our Holiday Activities

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  I will be taking a two week blog break and will see you back on January 7, 2025.  In the meantime, I thought you'd enjoy this video of our home decorated for Christmas.  I actually simplified the decor this year because there was only three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I went with more unadorned greens with simple bows. I really like the way it turned out, I think the trend this year for Christmas decor was more natural and simple, so it all worked out in the end.

Odds and ends of our holiday celebrations

I did put our tree up at Thanksgiving so we could take Christmas photos and have them ready for Christmas cards (although I did move the tree since then because it wasn't working out where it was).  I went with a simple all gold tree this year to coordinate with the more simple Christmas decor.  The kids all wore blue and green.

Kriskindlmarket

Hubby and I spent the following weekend in La Crosse Wisconsin and enjoyed the Kriskindlmarket in Sparta and the La Crosse Rotary Lights.

We were so fortunate to have a rare warm weekend in December in Wisconsin.  It was almost 50 degrees during the day and in the 40s after dark.  It was so nice! I didn't even need a winter coat!  It was buzzing everywhere we went that weekend because of the warm weather.  Everyone was out and about enjoying the holiday events without the freezing cold.

The Grinch was hysterical! He did such a great job staying in character!

The last time we went to the Kriskindlmarket it was during the day.  It was so nice going at night and seeing it all lit up!  It was so pretty!

We roasted marshmallows at the La Crosse Rotary Lights

I don't know why, but the lights seemed brighter than ever this year!

And finally, a photo of Jackson.  I think he is annoyed that Christmas decorations are in the way of his usual perch. 😁

  4. Thank you for inviting us to tour your home, it's so beautifully decorated everywhere you look, love the lit up garlands and traditional colors for Christmas.
And looks like a fun day at the Christmas market. I too got to enjoy a few Christmas market visits this year in my home country of Germany (every town big or small has them over there), it was chilly but thankfully no rain, some snowflakes would have been magical though :).
Love seeing Jackson!! One of my cats simply knocks over the decorations I put in her spot (which is a newer spot she discovered), she doesn't care - and I need to fix it every morning!!! She only sleeps there during the night.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Enjoy your blogging break!

    1. You're welcome, and thank you! I would love to go to German Christmas Market. They look incredible. That was great you got to go back. I had a cat once that did the same thing. They are so funny. Jackson has been fairly good about my Christmas decorations this year. He loves gift bags, and got into a few of those. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too!

  7. I enjoyed this so much. My favorite spaces are the gorgeous bedroom off the sitting room - I remember when you did that remodel - and the sunroom space. Love all of the bits of Christmas sprinkled about. Have always thought I would like to have Christmas or at least winter-themed bedspreads to put out for the holidays. Might have to invest. And then when the fam is together again for Christmas at our house, there will be a little Christmas in each of my rooms, too.

Those babies are precious in the sleigh. Love them up good!!

    1. Thanks Leslie. Yes, the bedroom in the living room is odd, but it is a must have with a growing, extended family. I think holiday bedspreads are a good investment.

  9. I'm finally catching up with a few of my favorite blogs and I'm so glad I saw this one, Amy! We don't live too far from LaCrosse/Sparta and it's halfway between us and our kids in Madison, so I will keep those links for future years. Sounds like a fun time and it looks like you had beautiful weather to enjoy it all!

    1. Thank you. Yes, it is big. It was small when we bought it; only 1200 square feet, but then we added the addition and doubled the square footage. We use every inch of this home when the grandbabies come over!
