I just realized it is the first week of August and I have yet to show you a summer shorts outfit other than what I wore on my Myrtle Beach vacation. The main reason is that other than around the house, I haven't worn shorts this season. If I went out, and it was hot, I chose a skirt. But it's been a relatively cool summer, so I actually wore pants a lot.
The funny thing about this outfit is that when I asked my husband to photograph me he was perplexed. He said "Really? There's nothing very special about it. It's just a T-Shirt and Shorts." I replied "That's exactly why I want you to photograph me. My fashion posts are about what I wore...and this is what I wore shopping and out to lunch on a very hot day."
Everything I am wearing is old except the t-shirt and choker. The t-shirt I picked up at a tourist shop in Myrtle Beach for $3.99. I originally bought it to just wear around the house or in the garden as it is a nice, thin tee which is my usual preference for summer tees to do housework. But I ended up really liking the print and the fit, so I changed my mind about that and I wear it outside the house as well.
I love the color, the design, the V-neck, and the nice long length. When choosing a tee to wear with shorts, these are important details to look for. Crew necks never look good on me, so I avoid buying those tees if I can.
I added a black and silver choker from Forever 21. I like to wear my chokers a little lower down on the neck. Adding jewelry, carrying a cute bag, and wearing eye catching shoes do a lot to dress up a tee shirt and shorts outfit.
My Carlos Santana Sandals I bought last year always catch someone's eye overtime I wear them. They are so super comfortable too!
I wore a silver bracelet to coordinate with the silver beads in the jewelry and I carried a silver cross body bag.
So what do you think? Do you agree with my husband that there is nothing "blog-worthy" about this outfit or do you like to see everyday outfits on my blog? I'd love to hear from you!
On Monday I'm going to do a very special fashion post called "Grandma and Me". I've seen so many "Mommy and Me" fashion posts, but never ones for grandmothers or even older moms. So I'm going to TRY and do a link up. I say that because I've never done a link up before and I'm not quite sure how to do it. 🤣 I will have to figure that out, and hopefully I can! All Grandmother related posts will be welcome...it doesn't have to be fashion related. The posts can be old or new. So if you know any grandmothers out there, get the word out, or if you have a post to share yourself, I'd love to see it!
Have a Great Day! Amy

Thanks Rachael!
DeleteFirst, before I forget...the post for Monday...grandma and me...any post about my grands? Would you be interested in joining me for a post on Grandparents Day about what you've learned from your grandbaby? I love the post you wrote when she was born. Something along those lines? Please holler back with info about your link-up and let me know if you are interested in joining up for mine in September. mommyhon333@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteNow, your regular old shopping outfit is superb. The thought you gave to the accessories takes it way beyond tee shirt and shorts. The sandals were the first thing that drew my attention and then the pattern in the tee. Great length fit. You have taken a shopping outfit to new heights. You should see what I crawl out of the house wearing. No, never mind, you shouldn't!!
Yes, any post on your grandmother or grandkids. Doesn't have to be fashion related. It's all about honoring grandparents. And yes, that sounds awesome about doing a post on Grandparents Day. I'll touch base with you soon. Thanks so much!
DeleteLooking forward to your Grandma and Me post :) I have a tourist tee I picked up in Venice last summer and I love wearing it outside the house and I probably spent around the same on it as you did for yours! Those sandals are SO cute!

Thanks Carrie! I always buy a t-shirt of wherever we visit and hope someday to make a travel t-shirt quilt with them.
DeleteIt's definitely blog worthy Amy!! Because this is well fitting and wonderful colors!!
ReplyDeleteMy mom would be a grandma if I had kids--does that count??

Thanks Jodie! You know, I would have no problem with you linking up because the whole point of this is to honor not just grandparents but older moms as well and you do all your fashion posts with your mom. I just tire of only seeing young moms with young kids blogging....it's as if your not a mom anymore when your kids get older. Which is completely untrue because we never stop being moms no matter how old our kids get. So yes, link up a fashion post!
DeleteLooks like a perfect summer shopping outfit to me, and definitely worth blogging. I like seeing what people wear "in real life" on a daily basis. Shorts are a staple for me in Summer, although sometimes I have to wear long pants inside because hubby and I can't agree on what to set the thermostat to.
ReplyDeleteLove the shirt from Myrtle Beach, I always end up buying shirts for the kids when on vacation, and forget about myself. But at least I picked up two pretty bracelets for myself from a jewelry shop at Broadway on the Beach.
Thanks Elli! I feel the same way. My favorite fashion blogs are the casual style ones because I'm just not into high fashion.
DeleteLovely look. I like seeing what bloggers wear IRL.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. Too many bloggers post outfits that just don't fit in with our everyday lives. There are times when a blogger has to instruct her photographer "don't ask questions, just take the photo!". I certainly do!!
Thank you! Yes, I notice you say that a lot to your "photographer" ha-ha. I agree with the outfit posts that don't fit into our daily lives. I really don't have a lot of opportunities to dress up, so I prefer casual outfit posts too!
DeleteThanks for joining the Top of the World Style linkup party with your awesome outfit. You styled this shorts really nicely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole!
DeleteYay! I love that you photographed "what you wore"! Thank you for the validation on most of my posts - haha! And we get to see that you take your style everywhere. Cute choker and thank you for linking up with the Thursday Moda.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chrissy! I only photograph what I actually wear...unless it's a "just a for fun post" but those are rare.
