A Plaid Shirt with Bell Sleeves

Back in early December I published a Bell Sleeve Chenille Sweater post.  In that post I talked all about how popular statement sleeves are this season but that I only purchased two items with this trend so far because I didn't want a closet full of them when they weren't popular anymore.  Well my daughter must have read that post, because she bought me two tops for Christmas with unique sleeves.  I said "Oh good, now I can embrace the trend without spending the money myself". 😊

Today's post features one of the tops I received for Christmas.  It's a Belle Sleeve Plaid Shirt by a.n.a in Rich Avocado.  There are three other colors available on the JCPenney website.

I love the way the belle sleeves drape and that it's a short sleeve length so the belle sleeves don't get in my way.

I also really like how the styling of the sleeve feminizes an otherwise more masculine top.

For jewelry I wore a multi-strand black beaded necklace (also from JCPenney) and a black and silver bracelet.

I paired my top with black Levi jeans, tall black boots, and a black Liz Claiborne Elizabeth Tote.

I wore this outfit to church on Sunday.

Have a Great Day!  Amy

  1. Well who's the lucky mum?! Your daughter has great taste and I love the outfit you've put together around this statement sleeve top. But out in the snow, without a cardi? Get back in the house! Happy week to you and hugs, x.

    1. haha! Yes, I am lucky! Yes, winter is a difficult time to photograph but the lighting is so much better outside. This photo shoot took all of 5 minutes as I hurried to get back inside. :)

    1. Thanks Stacey. I don't have much choice in the winter as indoor photos usually don't turn out so good!

  4. Oh that's such a cute top, and I like that the statement sleeves aren't at the wrists. I have one piece with big bell sleeves and it often gets caught on things when I wear it, haha!

You did so well taking photos with bare arms in the snow too, I'd be freezing! It doesn't snow here in Brisbane!

Hope that you are having a nice start to your week :) Had my first day back at work after extended leave today so not the best day for me haha.

    1. Thanks Mica! Yes, the trick to wearing statement sleeves is to pick a top with shorter sleeves, or they do get in the way. I was freezing taking these pictures. My husband even told me "You look cold. Act natural." haha. Yea, right. Sorry about your day. I never worked when my kids were small. I'm sure it's very difficult. I would be so exhausted.

  5. I think it's a fabulous combination with the plaid. It's like a dichotomy of feminine and masculine all in one!!

    1. Thanks Jodie! I so agree it's a nice mix of feminine and masculine. I usually don't feel comfortable in a lot of plaid or flannel shirts because I think they are too masculine for me, but this one really works for me because of the sleeves.

  7. A really nice look, the shirt is the perfect mix of masculine and feminine details and looks great with black pants and boots. The necklace is really pretty too! I'm sure you're happy when it finally warms up...this is (I think) my first year that I say I had soooo enough of winter already, and we still have a little while to go! And we even had a mostly nice December! This cold and the bad roads are just too much for me to handle anymore!! Stay warm!

    1. Thanks Elli! Oh, I so agree about the weather. It's been so cold this year. Last year I lived in puffer vests and never wore a true real coat. This year, my vests aren't getting much use.

    1. Thanks Shauna! I'm so happy Ashley bought this top for me. I don't think I ever would have noticed it in the store. Sometimes we all need someone else to shop for us to get us out of our comfort zone.

  9. Really cute! I agree with the shorter sleeves don't get in my way. And isn't it so awesome to wear that to church if you want to instead of having to wear panty hose and heels?!

    1. Thank you! I so agree shorter belle sleeves are the way to go! And yes, churches are so much more casual today, especially in my area, so it's nice to be able to dress in casual clothes...especially on cold winter days.
