Shaped Animal Cards and A Birthday Party for the Grand Babies

A few weeks ago the grand babies were visiting us for the week.  We had a combined birthday party for them while they were here and these are the cards I made for them.

My card making style has evolved as my lifestyle has changed.  I used to make cards exclusively with stamps, now because I have grandkids, I try to make more interesting cards children would like.  Atticus has really been getting into Winnie the Pooh lately, so I made this bear card.  I got the idea off of Pinterest, but I used real dies to cut better circles.  If you need instructions, there's a short video on Pinterest or you can just check out the website I linked in the previous sentence.

For my second card I made I got the idea from Taylored Expressions.  She used an actual die set that they sell at Taylored Expressions, but I didn't buy the die set.  I just winged it with supplies I already owned.

I used the same colors as Jen did only because these are the colors of my own kitty Jackson, otherwise I would have changed the colors.

I also used large google eyes for the eyes instead of felt and paper.

The kids were tickled pink with their cards, so they were a HUGE success!

Alethea noticed immediately that the kitty card looked just like Jackson.

We finished our new backyard screened-in porch a week before they arrived, so we immediately put it to use for the birthday party.  I promise I'll do a post our new porch soon!

My daughter Ashley with our son-in-law Jason, and our newest grand baby Elisha.

One of Alethea's gifts from me was this fairy costume.  Like most little girls, she loves to dress up and has lots of costumes.

It doesn't take much to make kids happy at this age.  After I purchased a couple of more expensive items, I filled their bags with snacks and dollar store finds like this squishy ball.

I didn't have time to run to the bakery to pick up a fancy cake, so I made brownies instead.  The kids LOVED them and didn't miss the cake at all.

Finally, here is a very short little video where we sing "Happy Birthday" to the grandkids.

I'll be back soon with more pictures and stories of our week with the grand kids soon.

Have A Great Day!  Amy
