Home For The Holidays

I don't know about you, but the Holidays around my house are super casual!  Although I will do my hair and make-up (Who wants to be seen in holiday photos with out make-up? 🤣),  I want my clothes to be comfortable.  My usual attire is stretch denim or leggings with cozy knits.

I was so happy Jackson decided to join us for our photo shoot.  Kitties and Christmas can be so much fun (and sometimes they can be disasters).  Jackson enjoys helping me decorate the house.  He loves "hunting" among the green garland and batting all the round balls and berries that fall to the floor.  He has been pretty good this year about  leaving the tree alone once it's done.  But he has also gotten a few scoldings so he knows the trees are off limits.  He's such a good boy.

For this cozy "Home For The Holidays" look I am wearing a new sherpa fleece top from JCPenney with dark wine stretch skinny jeans  and black suede booties.

I bought this top on a whim because I had a great coupon "I just HAD to use!"  Who can relate to that?  You really don't need anything, but you can't let a good coupon go to waste!  ðŸ¤£ What drew me to this top was it's softness.  I have never felt anything so soft in my life!  And even though it makes me look larger than I really am because it's so big and puffy,  I really don't care because it feels so good to have it on.  The best solution to combat the "larger than life" issue is to wear something tighter on your lower life, like skinny jeans or leggings.

I threw this top in my suitcase when I went to visit my kids in October and I was so glad I did because it was so unexpectedly COLD.  It even snowed, and I didn't even bring a winter coat with me.  Who would think one would need a parka in October?  Thankfully, I had this top and it was a lifesaver!  It is super warm, and because I'm over fifty and therefore run warm, I can only wear it on the coldest of days--like TODAY!  It's a balmy -6 degrees right now!  UGH!

The neckline is very versatile.  It has buttons on the shoulder and in the neck of the top.  You can wear the neck down like I am in these photos, or you can button it all the way up to your chin to stay toasty warm.

I didn't think of showing the different ways the neckline can be worn when shooting this post, sorry.

I chose a size Medium because I wanted to be super comfy in it, but if I sized down it might have helped me not to look so large on top.  The back on me (I have a very long torso) goes down to the top half of my butt.  For women who want their backsides covered, you may not want to wear this with leggings.

Unfortunately even though I just purchased this top not that long ago, I can no longer find it on-line.  Do check your local JCP stores, and if you still don't see it I also like this similar one HERE.  Booties, old, similar HERE,  burgundy stretch skinny jeans, old, Stitch Fix, similar HERE.

Have A Great Day!  Amy

    1. It is comfy and cozy! I think most families are casual, I don't know why stores always try to push fancy holiday clothes. Office Christmas parties perhaps?

  3. Such great pictures Amy. And how nice that Jackson joined you this time! My cats seem to leave the tree alone for the most part, but they both love sleeping under it and I caught Thomas (the orange one) drinking the water from it. He must like the taste of pine.

Your sweater looks so cozy and comfy. Perfect for the holidays at home. I don't wear leggings but it's definitley a great sweater to wear with skinny jeans as well!

    1. Thanks Ellie. Yes, I love it when Jackson joins the photo shoot. My husband always tries to shoo him away and say "No, let him be, it makes a more interesting picture." I use artificial trees, but I have the same "water drinking issue" with my houseplants. I always keep a pan under a pot to protect the floor, and every time I water the plant and water goes into the pan, Jackson drinks from it. It really bothers me because I worry about him drinking the dirty water that went through a pot that has fertilizer in it, but I can't seem to stop him. He always has a full bowl of water. I have no idea why he does this.

    1. Thank you! It was below zero that day so I said to my hubby "How about we just do a cozy picture by the tree instead of going out in the cold and pretending I'm not freezing?" ha ha!

  14. What a full, beautifully decorated tree. So pretty. We are also kind of laid back for the holidays although I would for everyone to kind of get cleaned up this year so we can take photos. I like the treatment on your walls...maybe just paint but it looks like adobe. Very pretty.

    1. Thank you! Your "cleaned up" comment is so funny. It's hard for me to get my guys dressed up too. The walls are actually "adobe". When this part of the house was built, the "Tuscan Style" was really trending, so I put a stucco on the walls. But I also used paint to accentuate it. I will be re-painting the walls white this winter, but I'm not removing the stucco (too much work).
