I wore this plaid dress to church, out to lunch, and then for a brief hike. I had no idea we were going on a hike this day or I would have worn different boots. These boots have a bit of a heel, and although the hike wasn't that long, it was steep at times, and my feet were killing me by the end of the hike.
If this dress looks familiar to you it's because I purchased it last year and showed it to you in THIS POST. There I styled it with cognac flat boots and a suede shearling vest.
On this day, I styled it with my new faux suede jacket from Stitch Fix; the color went perfectly with the dress! I also switched my boot to a darker brown to pull out the dark brown in the plaid print of the dress.
I absolutely love this dress. It's one of my favorite dresses I have ever purchased. I love the plaid print, the colors, the soft flannel fabric, the shift dress design, and that it has long sleeves! I mean, do you have any idea how hard it is to buy dresses with long sleeves? I honestly don't understand why there are not more dresses appropriate for winter on the market. Most dresses are designed for warm temperatures.
I wore another item from a Stitch Fix box in this outfit: this pretty leaf necklace. What could be more appropriate to wear while looking at fall leaves than this pretty necklace?
I've gotten so much use out of this jacket from Stitch Fix. It's so soft and comfy, and the perfect lightweight jacket before it gets too cold. But, I think it's also so lightweight, it might work great as a blazer in the winter too!
The dress is on the short side for me, but most dresses are since I have such a long torso and legs. The way I solve that problem is to wear my dresses with tights or leggings. I have burgundy tights on in these photos.
My boots are so old they are back in style again, ha ha! I'm learning if something is in good condition, but dated, just pack it away for awhile, because it'll be back in style soon! I've been reading a lot lately about how slouchy boots are the latest boot trend!

I love plaid and this is the most darling dress and your whole outfit is so fun FALL!!ReplyDelete
I remember my sister had the slouchy boots back in the day ... I was too young back then to care much about fashion. Might get a pair this time around :-) Cute outfit!ReplyDelete
"Everything old becomes new again!" Thanks Ellie!Delete
Wow! What a fabulous outfit. You've chosen the colours perfectly. The jacket looks cool on it and the tights and boots are great.ReplyDelete
Thanks Nancy! I've been trying to get over to your blog but I see it's under maintenance. Hope your back in business soon!Delete
Very cute Autumn outfit Amy! Love the matching tights. I love that socks and tights are so in right now, so comfortable! xx MariaReplyDelete
Thank you! I didn't even know tights were 'in'. ha ha! I just wore them cause I like them. Plus, it's too cold here in Wisconsin to go bare legged under our dresses.Delete
I love colorful tights. I think they're so fun!ReplyDelete
EXACTLY my sentiments...why are there so many sleeveless dresses shown for winter? I know we can add a wrap or cardigan or coat but even with that, my arms get cold. It just doesn't make any sense. This dress is a winner in so many ways in addition to its long sleeves. And you get a gold star for hiking in your darling dress. Impressive.ReplyDelete
Yes, why? I think we'd all wear more dresses in Winter if they used warmer fabrics and longer sleeves.Delete
The jacket and dress are a cute combo!ReplyDelete
Your dress is so cute and I love the red tights with it! Shame the boots weren't the most comfortable for your hike but they look good. I have a blue leaf necklace like that, I think of that everytime I see another blogger wearing one. No idea where mine is though, it's a bit fragile so hasn't been worn in a few years as I'm worried about the boys breaking it!ReplyDelete
I have a few long sleeved dresses but prefer them in spring or autumn - they provide good sun coverage!
Hope that you are having a lovely weekend :) We are enjoying the warmer summer-like weather!
