A Better Alternative To A Stitch Fix Top

Last month I received a poncho-style blouse from Stitch Fix and I returned it because I thought it looked too old for me.  I said in that post that I felt I looked like I just stepped off the set of a "Golden Girls" episode.  But many people commented how much they liked the blouse on me, which made me regret returning it.  So, I started searching for a similar style blouse and I was happy to find this Alyx Tie Front Popover Top at JCPenney.

I can not even begin to tell you how much I love this top!  It's absolutely perfect, and by reading the reviews on the JCP website, many other buyers agree!  It comes in two colors:  rose and periwinkle.  I chose periwinkle because I already have too many rose/coral tops in my closet.

The best thing about this top is how cool and comfy it is!  It comes with a built in tank underneath that is very soft and has a nice length.  Over the top of the tank is loose short sleeve chiffon layer that ties below the waist.  It is so figure flattering!   It covers up my tummy and flabby arms, without making me sweat!  I love it.  And the bonus...a beautiful necklace is included with the top!

The necklace alone is worth the cost of the top.  It is so pretty and trendy.

I wore a silver bracelet and long silver earrings to coordinate with the silver necklace that came with the top.

I added a blush colored handbag to bring more color to the outfit.

To keep the silver theme going head to toe, I wore silver sandals that I picked up at an end-of-summer clearance sale a few seasons ago at JCP.

I wore this top with white skinny jeans from Ross.  The top is an odd color, so I'm not quite sure what other color bottoms I could style it with, so if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them in the comments below.

The top is very unique, and such a statement piece.  I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of it.

I wore this look to church on Sunday.

One of the reasons I returned the Stitch Fix top was that it costs $48.00.  The retail price of this top is the same, however,  I bought it on sale for 40% off and then I used a $10.00 coupon on it, so I got it for $18.80!  That's a far better deal than the Stitch Fix top isn't it?  And I like this one so much better too!

The solid color suits me better than the Floridian-Style print on the Stitch Fix top.  It's less "Golden Girlish" if you know what I mean.  But do you know what really surprised me about this top?  I didn't find it in the women's department at JCP, but in the JUNIORS department!  Apparently, it's trending to look like a "Golden Girl" these days.  ðŸ˜„

Have a Great Day!  Amy

    1. Thanks Shauna, it's funny you mentioned wearing this top for work because there was only one negative review on the JCP site about this top and it was from someone who said they didn't think it was appropriate for work. I don't know why, the shoulders are definitely covered. Maybe cause it's sheer on the shoulders? She must have a very strict dress code.

  11. Absolutely love this colour and love it on you. The style is so pretty, floaty and feminine. I can just imagine how cool it must feel wearing it. Good spot, Amy, you saw its potential on the rail.
So funny, youngsters dressing as Golden Girls!
I could see it with grey skinnies or stone linen trousers. Black works but I think it would be nice to keep the softness with pastels for the summer. Have you tried it with white shorts and nude heels for a glam-shorts look?!

    1. Thank you, it's so funny about the color because I wasn't sure it did flatter me, so I took a picture of me wearing it in the dressing room and sent it to my daughter and she loved the color! I tried the top with grey jeans, but it didn't look right to me. However, they were a very light grey, maybe I should a darker grey. And nope, I haven't tried it with shorts yet as our weather hasn't been that warm to even wear shorts most days. But that's a great idea and I will give it a try.

  12. This top looks so great with the white jeans! I have been so impressed with JCP lately. They really have the cutest stuff. I like it with the white jeans, and I know it's not very exciting but I also love lighter blues with black pants.

  16. This is what I call "outfit perfection"! I have to say I love everything about it - the color, the flowy sleeves and white jeans with it. If you want to carry it into the fall, I the top would look good with nice black pants too.
