After several weekends of staying home trying to get household projects done, my husband and I decided it was time to get out and enjoy ourselves for a change. We went to the Ellsworth Cheese Curd Festival (and yes, I'll be doing a travel post about that soon!) and then stopped at Memorial Park in Red Wing, MN on the way home: that's where all these pretty pictures were taken for today's fashion post.
We've been hit with a cold front the past few days, so I'm back in my jeans again! Our high this day was only 65. I thought a simple kimono would be sufficient but I probably could have used a sweatshirt as it was quite windy all day...which made it seem colder. Oh, will summer ever get here to stay?
My kimono is old. The first time I showed this kimono to you was HERE. In that post I wore it with boyfriend jeans and a metallic silver tee. I also wore it over a romper in This POST. This time I tried my kimono over a white tee with grey skinny jeans and black sandals.
This was an outfit I wasn't sure about; I just threw it on as we were in a hurry to get out the door, but I ended up getting a lot of compliments on it throughout the day. It's always nice to be complimented by strangers.
The tee is a relaxed fit V-neck by a.n.a and the jeans are Liz Claiborne City Fit Skinny Vintage Wash Pant in "Vapor". Both are from JCP and new this season.
Even though we went to a festival and a park, we didn't do too much strenuous walk so a pair of comfortable flat sandals was all that was needed. These are by Carlos Santana (old, from DSW).
For jewelry, I wore a long mix of gold and red necklaces and a gold bracelet.
These fun pictures were taken in front of an old cistern in the park. It looked like a tower from an old castle, it was so fun! I'm sure you'll see more of this cistern in a future travel post.

I really like these Kimono type jackets. Still light enough for our warmer weather ,but an aid to not getting burn't shoulders! Looks great on xx

I've never worn a kimono on a hot day to avoid a sunburn. I'll have to try that sometime. I usually wear them when the weather is cooler.
DeleteLove this short kimono! I always buy the longer ones, but now I think I need a short one too. Cute design for summer!

Thanks Shauna, and would you believe I don't own a long one? Both of mine are short. Hmmm, maybe I need to rectify that.
DeleteI love the kimonos---and wearing jeans is always smart when the weather cools down!! I can totally relate!!

ReplyDeleteThank you! I was happy to find these jeans, such an unusual color.
DeleteNice outfit, the Kimono jacket seems perfect for a cooler summer day. It cooled off here too, and I am actually enjoying this cooler summer weather!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elli! The cooler weather is so nice for gardening, that I would agree, but not much for other summer activities like swimming or boating!

Thanks Jessica! We've had a few hot days in early June, which is very odd for Wisconsin, and since then it's been cool.
