An Easter Outfit

Since Easter is less than two weeks away, I thought I'd show one of the Easter outfits I plan on wearing that weekend.  We will be traveling to Milwaukee to meet up with our kids and see an Easter Musical at our old church on Saturday, then on Sunday we will go to the Easter Morning Services.  So I need two outfits, both suitable for a four hour car drive, yet church/Easter appropriate.  This is one of the outfits I came up with.

Last year I wore a skirt from Francesca's.  You can see that look HERE.    And would you believe I haven't worn that skirt since?  I just don't get a lot of use out of fancy dresses/skirts so I decided to fore go that option this year.  And no, I can't wear the same skirt again like my husband suggested 😊 because we always take family pictures and I don't want to be seen wearing the same skirt in our holiday photo year after year.

So this year, I decided to go with a pretty Easter Lavender cardigan (But if you look closely you will see I have the same white top on as I wore last year.  So there!  I do wear clothes more than once! 🙂) Since I'm getting older by the minute, I decided to try shopping at CJ Banks and that is where I found this pretty cardigan.  They had a "One Day Only 60% Off Sale" on certain items so I was able to snag this sweater for a steal.  I can't find it anymore on their website, but they have other very pretty lavender cardigans as well as other spring colors.

It's a thinner knit (my favorite), so it's very slimming and lightweight for spring.  It has 3/4 length sleeves, and interesting details on the lower portion of the cardigan and the sleeves.  It also has a nice length, going past the waist to the hip line.

Because I will be traveling and carrying a lot of extra items with me,  I chose this straw handbag I picked up at a garden store a season or two ago.  I tied a lavender floral chiffon scarf to it in case I need it for extra warmth.  I wore a purple and silver bracelet on my wrist and my usual rings.

And yes, these are the shoes you've been seeing everywhere.  They are the Steve Madden knock off of the $600.00 Chloes everyone is raving about on Blog Land.  I'm usually not the type to buy something everyone else is wearing, but these shoes "had me at hello."

I absolutely love them!  I love wedges because they give me the height, but I can still walk in them (Well,  almost still walk in them.  I did practically fall off of them while posing on these steps.  But in my defense, these steps are rotting and falling apart so it's easy to trip and stumble. 😂).

But yes, they are super comfortable and they go with everything!  They come in two other colors as well:   Black and Cognac.  I am wearing the taupe color.  I got mine at DSW for $60.00.

For jewelry, in addition to my bracelet I chose this lovely purple stone necklace with coordinating earrings.  I bought the set at a gift shop on one of my travels.

The cut out top is by Liz Claiborne (old).

I did get new white jeans.  I've had the same pair of white jeans for years but I started to notice that they were getting shorter and shorter to the point that they were practically Capri's.  Do you have the problem of clothing items shrinking up?  I don't mind if things shrink a bit to get more narrow, but my issue is most items tend to shrink up and become shorter.  When you have long legs and a long torso like me, you need clothes as long as you can get.

So, now that my old white jeans were as short as Capri's, off I went to Ross and I found this cute pair for around $20.00.  And would you believe they are high-waisted too?  Yea!  High-waisted pants that tuck my tummy in are so hard to find.  I was so happy to find these.  And I also bought them one size bigger so if they do shrink, it won't be quite so bad.

I'm very pleased with the way this outfit came together and I am so excited to wear it this Easter.  I think it's cute and fits the holiday well, yet it is also so comfortable that I will be able to enjoy wearing it while I spend time with family and friends.

Have a Great Day!  Amy

    1. Thanks Shauna! You know I had no idea lavender was my color till I did a fashion post last year with a old lavender top. When I saw the photo, I realized then it was a good color for me, so I'm always on the hunt now for lavender. It's not a easy color to find!

  4. Ahhh...here is that lavender sweater, Amy--and it's so pretty!! It's one of those sweaters that will get lots of use, I bet. Because I could imagine wearing it with everything!!
And I bought those shoes too---well, another variety that is close. I got a red pair with a tie at the top---and I love them. Funny how some items just float our boat, right?
We always dress up at Easter--so I'll be wearing a dress (unless there's a snowstorm)!!

    1. Thanks Jodie! I'm sure I'll get a lot more use out of this sweater than I did my skirt I bought last year. I use to dress up for Easter too, but now because we drive so far on Easter I need to be comfortable.

    1. Thanks Karen. That's so funny about my hair, I didn't even notice it till you mentioned it. It is straight! I wonder how that happened? LOL! No, I didn't straighten it. I'm a "wash and go" kinda gal. This is just what my hair decided to do that day I guess.

  13. I love the freshness of your super outfit. I like the idea of planning outfits for Easter, it sounds such a nice thing to prepare for. So impressed you're already in white jeans AND you have bare feet - I haven't done either yet this year! I buy white jeans at the start of each summer not because of shrinkage but because I find white dulls over the season with so much washing.

    1. Thank you! I'm happy to hear you buy new jeans every year cause I did question whether I should or not since I already owned a pair...even though they were too short! I'm very frugal.
