Fashion Over Fifty: Country Style

Hello!  Welcome to this week's Fashion Over Fifty post.  Today I have a casual country outfit to show you.  I was born and raised in a big city, but I currently live in the country.  Because of my big city roots, I normally resist anything country;   but it was yet another cold, wintery day in Wisconsin and I just wanted to be warm and cozy and still look fashionable, so country won over chic and sophisticated this day!

There is a clothing line at Younkers called Ruff Hewn.  I don't know why, but for some reason I'm drawn to this line and always check out what's new when I'm in Younkers.  I actually only own one item from this line and it's the cream floral knit blouse in the photograph.  I bought it last year, so I'm sure it's no longer available, but most of their clothing line is very similar to this blouse.  Their clothes have a very warm, rugged, natural look that's perfect for anyone living in a northern climate.

I wore a burgundy ribbed cardigan from H & M  (no longer available) that is longer in the back than it is in the front.  I wish I would have remembered to photograph the back, but I was FREEZING and just wanted this photo shoot over with as quickly as possible.  It was my husbands idea to take pictures outside and take advantage of the newly fallen snow.  I wore a simple grey t shirt underneath the Ruff Hewn blouse, very casual boot cut jeans from Express, a country-style belt, and practical, yet stylish brown leather shoes.
These leather shoes I found at Famous Footwear last year are one of my favorite pairs of shoes.  I love them because they have a bit of heal so I feel they 'dress up' an outfit, yet because the soles are thick rubber and they have a great grip to them, they are 'safe' to wear in the winter.  I love high heeled booties and all the other pretty shoes I see on fashion blogs, but where I live, they are so impractical.  Women don't wear them here in Wisconsin, or we'd be flat on our behinds the second our feet stepped on the pavement.  We might change into heels once were at work or inside our destination, but most of the time we just wear practical footwear to avoid the hassle.

For jewelry I wore this three strand brown necklace and a matching bracelet.
Have a great day! Amy
