You Are God's Masterpiece Inspirational Card

I made this card for one of my dearest girlfriend's birthday.  There was no stamping involved.  I simply colored in a card front from "Colorful Blessings", available on Amazon.

I colored the image using pastel gel and glitter pens.

I adhered the card front to a grey card stock mat,  wrapped a pink organza ribbon around the image and tied it into a bow, then I glued the entire card front to a pink card.

Stitch Fix 21: Black Floral Top

This week I'm continuing on with my review of my 21st box from Stitch Fix with this pretty black floral top.  I have already shown you two pieces from this Fix on Monday and Friday's fashion posts.  

I must admit I really liked this top and I had a hard time deciding whether to keep it or send it back.  I loved the fit/cut and the print.  This top could be dressed up or down.  I could easily dress it up with a skirt or dress pants, but for this fashion post I decided to dress it down with light denim skinny jeans (old, Charlotte Russe) and a burgundy faux leather jacket (old, CJBanks similar HERE).

I decided to pull out the little bit of mustard yellow in the top by carrying a mustard yellow bag (old).  For shoes, I went with black booties (old, Liz Claiborne) to bring down the black color of the top to the rest of the outfit.

The top has tab sleeves and a split neckline.  I did wear a black tank top underneath the blouse for modesty reasons.

For jewelry, I went with a burnished gold bracelet and brown/gold earrings.

The top has a nice length.  It is also longer in back than it is in front.

As much as I loved this top, I did send it back.  My husband thought it was just OK, and y'all know his opinion matters a lot when it comes to deciding what to keep and what to send back. 😊 But I also sent it back because I truly did not need it.  I already own three dark floral tops and I could not justify keeping another one.

Stitch Fix #21: Striped Cardigan

I recently received this horizontal striped cardigan in my last Stitch Fix box,  Fix #21.  It is a very subdued stripe, which I like.  If I'm going to wear stripes, especially horizontal ones, I prefer them to be more subtle.  I know stripes are every fashion blogger's best friend, but I really don't like them.  They use to say "Horizontal stripes make you look larger", now they say they do not.  I disagree, I think they do.  How can something that stretches horizontally straight across your body not make your body look wider?  I think "they" are just lying to us to sell more clothes. ha ha!

In addition to the subtlety of the stripes, which I liked, I also liked how thin the sweater is.  It is a very thin knit, not a chunky knit.  Chunky knits, like horizontal stripes, add a lot of extra weight to the upper body.  I also like how comfortably a thinner knit fits under a winter coat than a chunky knit.

However, despite liking  two aspects of this sweater (the subtle stripes and the thin knit) I did ultimately send this cardigan back.  I just don't think horizontal stripes, of any kind, subtle or not, looks good on me and I also was not fond of the dull, drab color.  I have since asked my stylist to send me more color in future fixes:  like burgundies, burnt oranges, mustard yellows, olive greens, purples...anything but brown, black or grey!

I styled my cardigan with a black tank from C.J. Banks that has a fun grommet neckline (old).  I chose to carry a burgundy bag (JCP, old) to bring a spot of color into this outfit.

For shoes, I went with these brown suede wedge booties from JCP (old) to coordinate with the brown tones in the sweater.
