Travel Outfit For Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend we drove to the Chicago area for my daughter's baby shower.  It was an absolutely beautiful weekend with the temperatures in the seventies and the sun shining away!  How often does that happen on Memorial Day weekend?

This is the outfit I wore for the six hour car drive and also while hanging out with the kids at night.  After a long drive, it always feels good to take a walk so we went to the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve.

I wore a sleeveless top from CJBanks with a white tank underneath, white bermuda shorts (old, Walmart), and nude sandals from Younkers.

I only had my iPhone with me on this walk so my photos are not very clear, which is a shame because I'd love for you to see a better detail of the embroidery on this top.   It is so pretty!   I bought it on-line and ordered a medium and it's just a tad big on me, so I wish I would have purchased a small.  Ugh!  One of the reasons I do not like shopping on-line!  I'm going to wash it first to see if it shrinks a  little, and if it doesn't I will see if I can take it in a bit.

My bermuda shorts I picked up at end-of-summer clearance sale at Walmart for only $3.00!  It was so late in the season when I bought them that this is the first time I've been able to wear them.  I decided I was finally done with capris and I will only wear ankle pants or bermuda shorts instead.  I don't think I look good in capris because of where they stop on my legs.  A few more or less inches of fabric doesn't affect my comfort level anyway.

The sandals are new.  I bought them at Younkers for only $14.99!  It was an unbelievable score because they normally cost over $60.00.  I just happened to visit the store when they were having a "Black Friday Sale in May",  and the shoes were on special for $24.99 and then I was able to use a $10.00 coupon as well!  I was so happy, because I have decided I was not going to wear uncomfortable shoes anymore and to purge my closet of them.  These shoes are so comfortable, I could walk for miles in them!

Well I can't leave you without showing you some pictures of this beautiful forest preserve.  I would do a travel post about it, but we didn't do anything other than walk around the lake.  I wouldn't be able to do it justice.  There appeared to be more trails.  The park was filled with people picnicking, boating, walking, biking, and fishing.  They provided boats to rent and the water was filled with boats.  It was such a beautiful park and a beautiful evening.

On Monday I will share what I wore on Memorial Day and then I Tuesday I will have a post of my daughter's baby shower decorations!

Have a Great Day!  Amy
