Celebrating The Birthday "Boy": Coordinating Birthday Card and Gift Wrapping

Last month we celebrated my husbands birthday.  It falls around Christmas so the kids are usually here to have a little party for him.

I gave my husband a CD that he requested.  I know, it shows his age, but he is probably one of the last humans left on earth that still does not own a SmartPhone so he likes CDs to listen to in his car on the way to and from work.

I made a card for his birthday and wrapped his present in white craft paper and I used the same ribbon on his gift that I did on his card.

To make his card I used an old embossing folder from Cuttlebug to create the background.  I then stamped an old image from Stampin' Up! and colored it in then cut it out using a Spellbinder's Circle Die.  I popped it up on a scalloped die cut to give it even more interest.  Then I wrapped some birthday ribbon around the card, placing the stamped circular image on top.

On the inside of the card I stamped a sentiment and colored in the candle.

The gift was wrapped in white Kraft paper, then tied with the same ribbon I used on the card.  I then created a tag by using my Spellbinder's Nestabilities once again and another Stampin' Up! stamp.

And here are some photos of our little party.  Everything we do is for the grandkids, even the birthday parties for adults!  We get out the party hats, and paper horns and have a good ole time. Grandpa always acts super silly to the grandchildren's delight.

My daughter and son-in-law gave him three packages of his favorite cookies and a package of cheese curds.  I know, such big spenders we are!  But when you already have everything you need, what else do you need to give?

I just love Alethea's expressions in all these photos.  She seems so interested in all of Grandpa's presents!

 Have A Great Day! Amy

  1. Awww, this post is so sweet. We all have too much. Cookies and cheese curds are delightful and delight-giving gifts.

Your husband is a doll in his ribbon headband. Reminds me of a time long ago when my own very serious, contemplative father wore a crazy beaded headband to impress my daughter. Great memories.

    1. Thank you. Yes, it's hard to buy gifts these days because we all have everything we need, but food gifts are always a good idea. My husband was just being silly for the grandkids; putting the gift wrap ribbons on his head as he unwrapped the presents.

  2. P.S. Forgot to mention the card. Love the embossing. I had embossing stuff in a past life. Would like to try it again. I am sure it is a much improved process now.

    1. Thank you. I actually have the original Cuttlebug. I own a Circuit, but I have always found the simplicity of the Cuttlebug so much easier.

  3. What a cute card and matching wrapping paper!! Speaking of phones, my hubby complains about his all the time and keeps saying he's going to get him a flip phone! He won't ever do that because then he couldn't FaceTime with the grandbabies but he keeps saying it! Thanks so much for linking up with me at the #UnlimitedMonthlyLinkParty 21, open until February 26. Shared on social media.

    1. Thank you. I wish my husband would get a phone then I wouldn't have to worry about him so much when he is driving the country roads by himself. However, he'd never be able to figure out how to use it. :)

  4. What wonderful family memories you're making! I really like his card and it struck me that I have just about every one of those stamps that you used (for the card and the gift!).

    1. Yes we are! Thank you! That is so interesting you have the same stamps. I think they were hostess gift stamps so there are a lot of them out there.

  5. My husband is in his mid 40's and he too has no intentions of getting a smartphone anytime soon!
The card is perfect with that colorful ribbon and embossing and I love the matching gift wrap! Love the pictures! Alethea is so cute wondering what will be inside the package! And eatable gifts are some of the best!

    1. Well I'm happy to hear that my husband isn't alone. Everyone thinks it's crazy that he doesn't have his own phone. Yes Alethea loved watching my hubby open his gifts, and eatable gifts are the best! Thanks so much!

  7. I love the white embossed card! Sometimes simple is so nice for a celebration: family, food, simple gifts... Just taking time to celebrate someone and spend time with them!

  8. Amy, what a beautiful card and gift wrap! It is so festive! And I love that you party with the children! Why not? We should all celebrate with that kind of whimsy, shouldn't we? And I love food and grocery store gifts! Bring me my favorite candy or donuts or cookies any day over some tediously searched for "perfect gift"! Thanks for sharing your joy with us!
