My Myrtle Beach Vacation: Day 5, Broadway On The Beach

 On our last day at Myrtle Beach we spent the morning on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and the afternoon at Broadway on the Beach.  Broadway on the Beach is an entertainment, shopping, and restaurant district located only three miles from the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.  It reminded me very much of Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida.

There was a large lake located right in the center, and the stores, restaurants, and entertainment buildings surround the lake and two bridges connect one side to the other on either end of the lake.

There were so many cute shops at Broadway on the Beach;  and many were quite affordable too!

Many of the gift shops had a Cape Cod style.

I loved these cute little dinosaurs advertising a dinosaur exhibit.

There were lots of fun rides for the kids or kids-at-heart.

This was my favorite store in South Carolina.  I visited two of them, one in The Market Commons and this one at Broadway on The Beach.  They had the cutest pieces.  I ended up buying two necklaces there.  The store reminded me of Francesca's.  They had very unique pieces at affordable prices.

This was the third Ferris Wheel I saw in Myrtle Beach.  The biggest one is located right on the Boardwalk, then there is another on Ocean Blvd, plus this one here.

This was the funnest building at Broadway On the Beach.  It's called Wonder Works.  We did not go inside so I can't tell you much about it other than it's an amusement ride of some sort.

Outside the Wonder Works building was this fun zip lines and ropes course.

The zip line went 50 feet above the water.  It looked so fun!

 The lake was filled with lots of hungry feet.  They had food you could buy to feed the ducks and fish.

This lake game looked super exciting.  They were large bubble that you could enter and then walk on water!

There were so many fun places to eat, like this Hard Rock Cafe which offered both inside and outside dining.  But beware, all the prices are slightly higher because your paying for the location and the ambiance.  We ended up waiting to eat to pay lower cost in a less touristy area.

I thought this restaurant looked really fun.

This boat ride looked like a blast.  The driver was so skilled and went so fast taking some really tight curves.

Even if you never buy a thing, or go to an attraction, or eat at a restaurant, Broadway On The Beach is so neat it is worth just walking around.  I loved the scenery, the unique fun buildings and attractions, window shopping, and watching other people on the rides.

The Ripley Aquarium is one of the main tourist attractions in Myrtle Beach and it is located at Broadway On The Beach.

We thought this castle looked really cool.  We liked the water features.  There was even fire bursting from the top.

The detail the architects and designers put into these attractions is amazing!

Dragon's Lair Fantasy Golf looked like a fun place.  I love the Viking Ship.

And finally, I can't leave without including this picture.  I put it on Facebook with the quote "The one time in my life where I have the perfect body!"  Ha-ha!

Parking is free at Broadway On The Beach, and there was plenty of it!  If you have a few hours to spare, I highly recommend stopping in and taking a stroll around this property.  It really is quite fun, if only just to look around like we did.

Baby Card and Tag with Coordinating Gift Wrap

Last week I shared the decorations I did for my daughter and son-in-law's Velveteen Rabbit Baby Shower.  This week I wanted to share the handmade card and tag I made for the gifts my husband and I gave to Ashley and Jason.

We already purchased a new crib for our grand baby, but we also wanted to have something for Ashley and Jason to open from us at the shower.  I knew roses were going to play a part in the baby shower decorations, so I wrapped her presents in this lovely pink and gold rose wrapping paper.  It's suppose to be wedding paper, but it was perfect for Ashley because I knew she wouldn't like the traditional baby themed gift wrapping paper.

Instead of a traditional baby card, I decided to make a card that mimicked the gift wrap design and also a little tag for the other, smaller, gifts.

I used an old, retired Stampin' Up! Set called "Roses In Winter" for both the card and the tag.  The sentiment is also an old Stampin' Up set.

I stamped the card with the roses from the set in pink ink.  Then I stamped the leaves, inner roses, and dots with Versamark and I heat-embossed with gold embossing powder.

The sentiment was also stamped in Versamark, dusted with gold embossing powder, and heat-embossed.  I then cut it out with a Spellbinder's die and popped it up with dimensionals on a scalloped pink die cut.  Two kinds of ribbon and some pearl accents completed the card.

 For the tag, I cut two tags using a Spellbinder's die:  one in vanilla card stock and one in metallic gold card stock.  I then stamped a small pink rose repeated on the vanilla tag, then added some gold metallic dots which I punched out of the gold card stock using a paper hole puncher.  I adhered the two tags together using a eyelet.

I created the baby's name using baby buttons and stringing them together and taping the ends to the back of the vanilla card stock.

 All the presents were wrapped in pretty vanilla bows left over from Ashley's wedding.

My Summer Stitch Fix: Fix #13

                            If you never heard of Stitch Fix, check out this post HERE before reading the rest of this post.

Four times a year I like to receive a order from Stitch Fix;  one Fix for every season.  I do this not because I hate shopping, but I like to try on clothes that I might not normally pick for myself.   For this Fix, I didn't have anything specific in mind, so I just asked for summer clothes and I requested no sleeveless tops.  I had a new stylist this time.  My past twelve Fixes I had the same stylist, this time I had Heather.

In this Fix, I received one dress, one pair of shorts, and three tops.

The dress is a Sydnie Shirt Dress and it is a size Medium.  The cost is $68.00.

This is the styling card.  I think it would look great with either of these options.  It was 90 degrees the day we photographed this outfit, so I didn't add any extra layers.  I chose mustard sandals and a bright coral bag to echo the colors in the dress.

I liked the fabric and style of the dress, but I did not like the print.  I also thought it was a tad on the short side from the front view.  It's longer in back, so that was o.k.  I have a very long torso and long legs, so dresses are always shorter on me than on most women.

The dress had the strangest print across my back.  My daughter said "It looks like you have a second set of boobs on your back".  LOL!  So, I think you may have figured out by now, it went back!

The next items I received were the Greda Woven Shirt Trim Knit Tee and Cuffed Denim Boyfriend Shorts.  My first thought when I saw this shirt in my Fix was "Oh no, not another striped shirt!".  I just donated several striped shirts because I didn't like the way they looked on me and I determined I was one of the few women on the planet who didn't look good in stripes.  But I tried the shirt on, and it ended up being my favorite item in the Fix.

The shirts I donated were made of a very clingy material, and this shirt had a nice loose fit.  Plus I liked the little extra details such as the faux layering and the buttons on the side.

 Isn't the little button on the bottom just the cutest?

I styled my striped top with a new back pack bag from JCPenney, white sneakers, and the Kut From The Kloth denim shorts included in this Fix.

The striped top is a size Medium and costs $54.00.  As much as I liked the top, I couldn't justify spending that much money for basically a striped tee shirt.  So, I sent it back.

I really loved the shorts included in this Fix.  Like all Kut From The Cloth pants they fit like a glove (for size reference, I'm wearing a size 6).  I loved the length, the slight distressing, and the unfinished cuff.  However, at a cost for $68.00 they were just too expensive for shorts and I really did not need them.  So I sent them back.

The next item in my Fix was a pretty cobalt blue top.  Here is the styling card.

I really love this top.  The details are very pretty, and the color is very flattering on me.  However, I thought the babydoll cut of the sleeve made my arms look fat and I already own a cobalt blue short sleeve top.  So, with regret, I sent it back.  My stylist said in her note to me that she included this top because I pinned a similar cobalt blue top on Pinterest.  But, I only pinned that top because I liked the style, not that I necessarily wanted a top in this color.

Cobalt blue looks great with white, so I styled the top with white Bermudas and white sandals.  I added a bright pink bag for an accent color.

The top is a size Medium and the cost is $64.00.  I think that's pretty high for a blouse...another reason it went back!

I really did love all the details in this top.  The front of the top had the cutest neckline and hem, and the back of the top had a row of buttons!

The final outfit in my Fix was a Poncho Style Blouse.  Or,  as I referred to it,  "My Golden Girl's Top"

Maybe if I were ten years older, I would wear this outfit but I just thought between the print and the cut that it was too old for me.  OR, it would look great on someone a lot younger than me that doesn't have to worry about her clothes aging her.  I could definitely see this top on a skinny twenty something gal!

I kind of liked the top because it's so cool and comfy.  It's very sheer, so a tank underneath is a must.  I wouldn't mind trying this top in a different pattern, so I will keep a look out for something similar next time I'm shopping.

I unfortunately ended up forfeiting my $20.00 styling fee and sending everything back.  My daughter was the one who convinced me.  She won me over by saying that even if I lost the $20.00 I still got the enjoyment of receiving a surprise package and new clothes to do a blog post with.  What the point of spending another $34.00 to keep one item (the striped tee) that I could buy somewhere else for less that $20.00?

Even with a new stylist, I haven't been having a lot of luck with my Fixes lately.  I think I liked everything in this Fix but I either owned something similar already, the price was too high, or there was something not-quite-right about the item that didn't make it worth the cost.
