Stitch Fix #19: Tie Front Blouse

I received this pretty floral tie front blouse in my last Fix:  Stitch Fix #19.  I previously reviewed a cold shoulder dress from that same Fix on Friday's Fashion Post.  This is the second item I am reviewing from that box.

The top is by West Kei and is called "Julianne Tie Front Blouse".  It has a dark navy blue background and large peachy pink and orange flowers.  The cutest feature is the attached tie waist:  it really hides the tummy and makes me look like I actually have a waist.

I have to admit, I wasn't thrilled with how large the flowers were, but the blue background and front tie sold me on the blouse.

The tie is only on the front, not the back.  It looks like a regular tunic from the back.

I followed the style card that came with my Fix and wore the top with white jeans.  I carried this burnt orange bag to coordinate with the orange flowers in the top.  For jewelry, I chose a black/white bracelet and rose gold hoop earrings.  For footwear, I picked black peek-a-boo toe espadrille wedges.

I didn't have a whole lot of time to decide what to keep from this Fix because it arrived on a Friday and my husband and I were leaving for a weekend trip.  So other than the dress, I never tried anything on for my husband and had to make all the decisions myself of what to keep and what to send back.  And if you read any of my other Stitch Fix reviews, you would know I love my husband's opinion on what to keep because he is ALWAYS RIGHT!  haha!

I ended up keeping this top because I loved the tie front.  I also kept another top from this Fix in addition to the dress.   I will show you that top on Friday and do a review of the entire Fix then too!

Black Floral Stitch Fix Dress: Fix #14

I received this cute black floral dress in my February Stitch Fix box.  I loved it the minute I saw it in the box!  The print was so lovely and I liked the cute and "flouncy" look.  It's super comfortable too! I'm sure when the weather turns hot and sunny (will that even happen this year?)  I will be living in it!

It is sleeveless, so it will be great for hot weather.  Yet because there are no sleeves, a cardigan or coat will fit nicely over it if needed.  I also like that it does not have spaghetti straps so I can wear a regular bra with it.  It has a keyhole neckline which provides another interesting detail.

It's not warm enough yet to wear this outfit in Wisconsin so this look was put together for photography purposes only.

For jewelry, I skipped a necklace because of the interesting keyhole neckline and I just wore a coral colored bracelet and earrings with rose gold earrings.

I thought my orange bag complimented the orange/coral flowers in the dress nicely.

The dress has an elastic waist.  I put a skinny black belt over the elastic portion of the dress.

I picked up these cute black sandals at an end of season clearance sale at JCPenney last fall.

The upper portion of the back is a solid black.

The dress is the perfect length for running around about town on a hot summer day:  not too long or too short.

And as promised, here is a summary of my February Fix #14.  You can click on the item description to get more information about each piece.

Lavender Vest:  Sent Back

Lavender Floral Wrap Top:  Kept

Lavender Skinny Jeans:  Sent Back

So what do you think?  Did I keep the right items?  What were your favorites in this Fix?  I'd love to hear from you!

Dark Florals For Fall

Wisconsin weather is very confused.  The entire month of August was cool and rainy;  and I'm talking coats and jeans type of cool, not sunny and seventies.  Now that it is actually Fall the temperatures are hot and dry...almost in the nineties!  Yesterday we had a slight respite from the heat with the high only 68 degrees, but the forecast says it will be 87 degrees again by Thursday!  Mother Nature truly does not follow a calendar.  :)

Well, once it's officially Fall, I no longer like to wear summer colors.  But I'm not going to wear blanket scarves, tall boots, and sweaters in eighty degree weather either.  So on this beautiful sunny 68 degree day I chose a long-sleeve yet very lightweight dark floral dress to wear to church.

My dress is from a Stitch Fix that I received last year.  I previously showed it to you in THIS POST with leggings, booties, and a vest;  but this is my favorite way to wear this dress...bare legged with sandals.

The dress has lightly scattered blue and pink flowers and a very pretty eyelet detail all the way up the arm and shoulders.

I carried a pink clutch to pick out the pink colors in the flowers.

My light blue sandals from Francesca's (old) pick out the light blue color in the flowers too!

Every time I wear these sandals people comment on them.  They are definitely a statement piece.  Francesca's really does sell the most unique shoes.  You just have to remember to look down when you're shopping in one of their stores.  They put their shoes on the floor underneath their clothing.

Both times I've worn this dress, I wore it with a choker.  This time I chose a black velvet choker with a blue stone.  I also chose blue stone earrings and chose not to wear a bracelet because my sleeves are so long they would cover up a bracelet.

Because of my long torso and long legs, most dresses are to short on me (but I wear them anyway otherwise I'd never be able to wear a lot of dresses).  This one is a nice length for me;  not too short at all!

Shift dresses are my favorite because I do not have a waist.  A lot of women dislike shift dresses because they are so shapeless, but if you have a shape like mine (where your middle is the same measurement as your bust and hips), they are perfect!

So what's the weather like in your neck of the woods?  Have you been able to bring out the blanket scarves yet, or are you still wearing sandals like me?  I'd love to hear from you!
