This month was my turn to pick the theme and because it is August, historically our hottest month of the year, I picked "Shorts or Skirts". Yet, I am wearing neither in this post but rather a combination of both because the outfit I am showing you is a skort! Skorts look like skirts on the outside, but there is a pair of shorts on the inside. They are perfect for a dressy, yet active occasion like on this day when I went to church in the morning and blueberry picking in the afternoon.

I have a few skorts and I do like that they are a great combination of both; though because of the double layer I find they can get a bit hot on really warm summer days (luckily we don't have really hot days all that often).

DeleteThis looks great on you and perfect church and picking blueberries! I usually wear shorts in the summer when I plan to be outside a lot. This year I also added a couple more linen pants and have been loving them. They are great for air conditioned rooms and then also keep me cool outside. I did buy a black linen skort this year from Marshalls but haven't actually worn it yet.

Thanks Ellie. I tend to wear linen pants on cooler summer days or when I travel. Would you believe I bought the hat at Aldi? It's my favorite sun hat too.

DeleteI have invested in a few skorts! I like them better than regular shorts at my age and they are a wonderful option to a skirt on a hot, active day! Your outfit was perfect for an afternoon of blueberry picking!

DeleteI wore lots of skorts when I was teaching. Then, I retired and donated them. I wish I had them now. I am slowly rebuilding my skorts collection because they are just the perfect item for summer!

ReplyDeleteIt has been so hot that I have actually worn my dresses outside which I usually don't do.
I don't think I have ever even seen a skort, but of course I'm not a clothes shopper looking around a lot, so that's not surprising.
Thank you. Sometimes skorts can surprise you. You may think that your trying on a skirt then you get to the fitting room and see the shorts inside.

DeleteI wore a skort our second day in London and LOVED it! It really looked like a skirt (of course), but it was denim so just nice and comfy. I love your top and I agree, I love a little detail on my tops... even if it is just something small. Blueberry picking sounds fun. I've only been strawberry and apple picking.

I think I saw that in your post, but you're right, I had no idea it was a skort. I've never been strawberry or apple picking. We pick blueberries because we eat a lot of them and can get them so much cheaper picking them ourselves.
DeleteI have a collection of skorts (about 8) / I wear them all summer in Pennsylvania and in the winter in Florida. They are great to run around all day in the warmer weather. I do like your skort.
